Toyota Alphard Overview
Luxury and comfort are two things that come in pairs, and when you think of that combo in the context of a people carrier, the Toyota Alphard quickly comes to mind. Walking up to the Alphard alone is enough to provide an idea of the plush interior awaiting inside. Its expansive new grille exudes opulence and uniqueness, characterized by graceful contours that sweep downward flanking the grille.
Built upon the foundation of the "Forceful x Impact Luxury" ideology, the 2024 Alphard looks just that, strong and striking. The essence of luxury permeates the interior, courtesy of Alphard’s fully leather-appointed cabin. Accompanied by captain seats featuring leg rests, and a touchscreen entertainment system, the Alphard makes you feel special wherever you are. The symphony of sound from 15 speakers spreads sound evenly across the cabin, while personalized air conditioning vents provide each passenger precise cooling in their desired zones.
New for the 2024 model is the A25A-FXS engine marking the departure of the V6 found in the old Alphard. The new engine is a hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This new engine generates 185 hp at 6,000 rpm with 233 Nm of torque in the 4,300 and 4,500 range. Combined with the electric motor, the Alphard generates a maximum system output of 247 hp and 270 Nm of torque.
- Launch
-
Toyota Motor Philippines silently added the 2024 Alphard to its lineup on August 11, 2023, a day after it made its appearance at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Toyota did not make noise about the new Alphard, though the new model can pull attention to it with just looks alone. Toyota only offers one variant of the 2024 Alphard which is a 2.5-liter Hybrid.
When it first went live on the Toyota Motor Philippines’ site, the 2024 Alphard had a price tag of P4,980,000 for the sole hybrid variant. For an additional P20,000, buyers can avail of the Alphard with Platinum White Pearl Mica paint. The 2024 Alphard is offered in three paint options, these include Black 3, Precious Metal, and the aforementioned Platinum White Pearl Mica.
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
The fourth generation of the Toyota Alphard now rides on the Toyota New Global Architecture- K (TNGA-K) platform. The 2024 Alphard comes outfitted with linear rockers and a V-shaped brace in the rear-lower segment of the vehicle, resulting in a substantial 50 percent enhancement in rigidity when compared to its predecessors. Toyota has also fine-tuned the application of structural adhesives to minimize body deformation. The front features MacPherson struts, while the rear boasts an improved double wishbone suspension setup. Alongside these advancements, incorporating rubber bushings in the cushion frame attachments and utilizing memory foam within the seats has led to a notable 30 percent reduction in vibrations for the minivan.
Propelling the Alphard HEV is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a potent electric motor, culminating in a combined system output of 247 horsepower. On its own, the combustion engine generates 185 hp at 6,000 rpm with 233 Nm of torque in the 4,300 and 4,500 range. This power is seamlessly managed by an e-CVT transmission, working together in tandem with the electric drive system. While official local fuel economy figures are still pending, the Toyota Japan website asserts a potential of up to 17.7 kilometers per liter in mixed driving scenarios.

-
Tech features inside the Alphard include a 12.3-inch TFT digital gauge cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a premium 15-speaker JBL sound system, and convenient power sliding doors. Particularly noteworthy is Toyota’s innovative "Super-Long Overhead Console," strategically consolidating lighting, switches, and air conditioning vents into a singular central hub.
As for safety features the 2024 Alphard incorporates Toyota Safety Sense with Proactive Driving Assist. This includes features such as Intra-Lane Steering Assist, Deceleration Assist when Turning at Intersections, Advanced Park, and Advanced Drive functionalities.
- Exterior
-
The fresh Alphard and Vellfire models adopt the brand's 'Forceful x IMPACT LUXURY' exterior design concept, drawing inspiration from a charging bull's powerful presence. Toyota’s designers introduced a reverse slant to the emblem, extending seamlessly from the front to the rear. The sides, on the other hand, showcase dynamic curves which make the Alphard’s body appear to flow, thanks to this dynamic curvature, it can even make the Alphard hide the fact that it’s made of metal. The 2024 Alphard boasts dimensions of 5,010 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,950 mm in height, with a precise wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The Alphard rides on 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels to complement the exterior.
The front grille still features the wide grille found in the old Alphard but it is now complemented by sleeker headlights. The hood and front bumper extend a slight bit forward than the grille giving it a much more smooth and prominent look.
At the back, the 2024 Alphard has sleek LED taillights connected in the middle with piano black trim giving it a wing-like appearance when viewed from behind. Thin vertical reflector strips flank the bottom of the bumper while chrome strip caps separate the taillights and the rear window.
- Interior
-
As for the interior, Toyota has implemented enhancements by expanding the spacing between the front and second-row seats by 5 mm and between the second-row and third-row seats by 10 mm. These refinements were accomplished through adjustments to the driving position and the construction of the second-row seats.
For effortless entry and exit, the all-new Alphard introduces Universal Steps on both sliding doors, catering to passengers of all age groups. Upon opening the doors, a step protrudes approximately 220 mm above ground level, simplifying the process of getting in and out. Complementing this, long assist grips thoughtfully positioned on the C pillars and on both sides of the ceiling are designed to accommodate occupants of diverse statures, ensuring a comfortable and effortless entry and exit experience.
The 2024 Alphard also features retractable car shades introduced for the second and third rows, adding a new level of convenience. Additionally, the moonroof features separate shades for the right and left sides, granting occupants the choice to either enjoy the open sky or shield themselves from direct sunlight, which means no more arguments regarding the moonroof on extended trips.
- Safety
-
Regarding safety features, the 2024 Alphard integrates Toyota Safety Sense complete with Proactive Driving Assist. This encompasses elements like Intra-Lane Steering Assist, Deceleration Assist for Turning at Intersections, as well as the Advanced Park and Advanced Drive functionalities.
