The Tiggo 5X Pro is the next evolution of the Tiggo 5X subcompact crossover. Featuring the same characteristics people loved about the Tiggo 5X, the 5X Pro is fitted with lots of amenities and features for an accessible price point. This crossover comes with a naturally aspirated engine or a turbocharged mild-hybrid (MHEV) version. Whichever variant you go in the Tiggo 5X Pro’s choices, this compact crossover is a competent vehicle with its modern design and features in both hybrid and non-hybrid versions.

Chery Auto Philippines launched the final car in its ‘Pro’ lineup at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show held in April 2023. The first variant to be offered is the base non-turbo version called the Tiggo 5X Pro Comfort. A few months later, Chery introduced the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid which sports a mild-hybrid system featuring a 48-volt system and a Belt-Drive Starter Generator (BSG). The Tiggo 5X Comfort was priced at P940,000 while the hybrid version had a price tag of P1,140,000 at launch.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Much like the Tiggo 5X, the Tiggo 5X Pro uses a unibody chassis. The crossover incorporates a car-like suspension arrangement, employing MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear for the Comfort variant. Chery steps it up a notch with the Hybrid variant fitting it with a multi-link independent rear suspension setup for better handling characteristics. The vehicle is equipped with 17-inch wheels for the Comfort model, while the Hybrid model boasts 18-inch two-tone wheels. The Tiggo 5X Pro can comfortably ride over bumps and cross most obstacles with its admirable 196 mm ground clearance.
Under the hood, the Tiggo 5X Pro offers a 1.5-liter gasoline engine coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Tiggo 5X Pro has the same engine output as the Tiggo 5X with 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque on tap. Meanwhile, the Hybrid Tiggo 5X Pro has much more power with 154 hp and 230 Nm of torque thanks to the addition of a turbocharger. Stopping power is provided by a full set of disc brakes for all variants. Ventilated discs up front and solid discs for the rear.

Standard features on the Tiggo 5X Pro include a large 10.25-inch HD touchscreen display, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, single-zone climate control, cruise control, a tire pressure monitor, and a reverse camera. Choosing the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid gives you extra features which include a power tailgate, ambient lighting, power-fold mirrors, power-adjustable seats, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless charging pad.

Like the Tiggo 5X, the Tiggo 5X Pro proudly displays Chery's iconic 'Tiger Crouching Grille,' contributing to the crossover's overall sleek appearance. What’s new for this version though is the crossover’s redesigned grille, now featuring a cleaner look without the chrome bar. On the sides, the crossover boasts body cladding with carefully crafted contours, enhancing its rugged appeal. The front bumper features extensive design changes most noticeable of which is the new foglight housing which is now smoother than before. Moving to the rear, you'll find LED taillights and a generously sized tailgate. Additionally, the Tiggo 5X Pro features a 'load-bearing luggage roof rail' atop, offering a practical solution for mounting cargo-carrying accessories when extra storage space is required.
Interior
Inside, the Tiggo 5X Pro showcases a distinct dashboard layout in contrast to the regular Tiggo 5X. The Tiggo 5X Pro features a raised 'floating' touchscreen positioned prominently, accompanied by a newly styled dashboard fascia and more streamlined air-conditioning vents. Notably, the Pro iteration presents a taller center console and introduces an electro-mechanical gear selector. Among the standard offerings are a single-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, as well as support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The hybrid version features a power-adjustable sunroof, power tailgate, and a wireless charging pad for an increase in price.
Safety
Standard safety features for the Tiggo 5X Pro include two SRS airbags, an anti-theft alarm, a traction control system with an electronic stability program, anti-lock brakes, ISOFIX anchors, and hill descent control. If you opt for the higher hybrid variant, you get six SRS airbags and a 360-degree view monitor in the safety package.
