MPVs often appeal to the needs and wants of Filipino families. Aside from its spacious cabin that can seat up to 7 occupants and load your precious stuff, these certified family haulers are easy to drive and economical. The Mitsubishi Xpander is currently one of the most popular options in the market today. The MPV garnered much love and acceptance from Filipinos since 2018. It’s cleverly packaged, and there are indeed a lot of things to love about it. That said, here are some of the things that make the Mitsubishi Xpander a great family vehicle.
Distinctively attractive
Just last year, the Xpander received a mild update, the model now sports an updated fascia, plus, select variants also get new alloy wheels and an LED lighting system on select trims. Until now, it’s still striking in its own way, and we just love how distinctive it looks when compared to other MPVs.
Enough space for seven
This is one of the key selling points of the Xpander. Like its competitors, the Mitsubishi Xpander has a 7-seat layout, while the front and second-row seats will often be the ones in use, we’re still happy to report that its third-row packs a good amount of space, though it is more suitable for smaller passengers. Ingress and egress for on and off the third row are good, plus, it can also fit medium-sized adults for occasional trips, you can even increase the third-row space by sliding the second-row seats forward.
The flat-folding seats
Now, if you’re not planning on using the third row, you can always fold them down for a flat cargo loading in order to extend its cargo space, you can even extend its figures by up to 1,600 liters by folding the second-row seats. This gives you more than enough space to haul large items for your extraordinary adventures.
Entertainment system
Your family will surely enjoy the in-car entertainment experience in the Xpander, as select variants of the MPV could either come with a 6.9-inch or 7-inch touchscreen that comes with various multimedia functions including Mirror Link. Depending on the trim you purchase, the Xpander could either get a 4-speaker or 6-speaker audio system.
A fine combination of performance and comfort
All variants of the Mitsubishi Xpander are powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that puts out 103 hp and 141 Nm of torque. The said mill is paired with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT. Aside from its good handling and performance, the Xpander also has a comfortable ride, plus, its cabin is also well-insulated too, with road and wind noise kept at a minimum.
Standing strong in terms of fuel efficiency
The Mitsubishi Xpander is mighty efficient too. As previously tested, the MPV was able to return 9-10 km/L in heavy traffic, which is quite impressive. Bringing it onto the highway returned around 16-17 km/L with an average speed of 90 km/h. This truly shows that the Xpander is one of the fuel-efficient models in its segment.
It’s affordable
Currently, the Mitsubishi Xpander range starts with the GLX MT which retails at P1,008,000, next is the mid-tier GLX Plus AT that’s priced at P1,088,000, and lastly, the range-topping GLS AT has an SRP of P1,128,000.
