The 11th generation Honda Civic is just around the corner. The spy shots and leaked images spread like wildfire, and rightfully so given the popularity of Honda’s compact car. The next-generation Civic was initially supposed to premiere in the latter half of 2021, but it appears that there has been a change of plans from the big H.
The Honda Civic Tour will return on April 28, 2021, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the Civic nameplate in the world. Part of the virtual concert series will include a special first look at the 2022 Civic Sedan.
It is as we’ve expected. The leaks are quite close to the photo, and the 11th generation is also going to be the most advanced Civic to date. Honda’s designers and engineers prioritized a human-centered design philosophy, which maximizes the total environment for the occupants.
In the Philippines, we can expect the Honda Civic to arrive just before 2021 ends. This was according to Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) president Masahiko Nakamura. Other leaks suggest that there will be two engine options with a 2.0-liter serving as the base configuration, while the higher trims will get the 1.5-liter turbocharged motors similar to the ones found in the current RS variant of the 10th generation Honda Civic. Although, we can expect that HCPI will still use the 1.8-liter engine because of its prolific use in the ASEAN region.
A hatchback version of the Civic will follow the launch of the sedan in a few months. The hatch will be manufactured by Honda in the US, which is a first for the nameplate in the States. The Indiana factory will take responsibility for the model’s manufacture. Meanwhile, ASEAN units will come from the same factories in Thailand. We’re anticipating the 2022 Honda Civic, and the model is ripe after 5 great years on the market. Hopefully a hatchback version comes to the Philippines to add some spice to the Civic lineup.
