The day of hearts is upon us. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you haven’t already made your dinner reservation and planned the day in advance, then fret not, we’re here to help. If you have a passion for cars, and if driving around is a bonding experience for you and your partner, then we suggest that you read on.
In this list, we’ll be going over a few things that you can do for Valentine’s. A few of these ideas will be centered around cars, while others will simply be ideas that you can drive to. Either way, you and your date have to hop in a car, so let’s hop to it, shall we? Here are five date ideas for Valentine’s Day.
Have an out-of-town staycation
Staycation-style holidays are perfect if you want to just relax and enjoy life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Taking this concept and transforming it into a Valentine’s Day plan is totally valid as a date idea and would be very appreciated if you and your date happen to be overworked and want to avoid as much stress as possible.
For this, we recommend that you go out of town. Perhaps a resort in Tagaytay would be a good bet, so too would an overnight to a few nights’ stay in Baguio. Either way, driving to these places and then driving back would probably be the most stressful or exciting part of the journey.
Of course, plan your trip ahead of time. Make sure that you leave early to avoid the traffic and to avoid souring the mood before your plans even start. Book a nice hotel or resort to stay in and also consider getting at least one dinner reservation for you and your date. It doesn’t have to be an extremely fancy place, even an ecological resort with a great natural atmosphere can be a literal breath of fresh air compared to a high-rise hotel. Consider places like Batangas, Baguio, Tagaytay, and more if you do decide to go with this idea. Do some research on the more happening places outside of the city, or perhaps go with a not-so-known place with a great personality. Either way, this plan is a nice way to unwind, relax, and also spend quality time with your date.
Breakfast in the mountains
Why not beat the traffic and head out super early? Think about it, most people will be making dinner reservations, so why not make a breakfast plan? On top of that, why don’t you make it a drive? Leave early and beat the traffic, and got to your destination to watch the sunrise. For this, we recommend a nice driving road like Marilaque, where there are tons of stopovers and a lot of nature to absorb.
There are also some stopovers that you can do that have a great view of the Sierra Madre mountain range, and who doesn’t appreciate a great view in addition to a nice winding road?
Go to an amusement park
Perhaps this is a bit cliche, but it’s still tons of fun regardless. If you liked going to amusement parks as a kid, why not go there once again but with a date? Amusement park dates are something else, and they’re a nice bonding experience because you’ll get to learn more about your date and the rides that make them scared.
Do you want to hop on that roller coaster? Are you too scared? Is your date too scared? Do you share the same fear of heights? Why not challenge your date (and possibly yourself) to ride all of the rides? Try your hand at the games. Win your date a prize at any of the game booths. Like a scene straight out of a movie, an amusement park has a lot of excitement in store for you and your date so why not take the drive out? However, if you will be there the whole day, make sure to do your due diligence, make a dinner reservation, make sure all your work is attended to if you plan on taking a leave, and make sure you’re on time for your date.
Wakeboarding
If water sports are more your speed, then there are a few places outside of the metro that you can try out, namely wakeboarding. There are wake parks out there that are just waiting for you to try like Decawake park near Clark, Pampanga.
Of course, after you do your little stunts on the water, or after seeing each other flounder on top of the boards for the first time, get a nice hearty meal in Subic or in Clark. A meal out of town is also a break from the normal stuff back in the city, and hunger is one of the best spices in the world, so exert yourself and then chow down!
Have a picnic
There is one place in Clark that you might be familiar with if you’ve seen our videos. It’s called the Clark Picnic Grounds. No reservations are needed, just a basket, a blanket, and a car. This is probably one of the simplest date ideas, but of course, make it a little fancy by preparing a fancy meal beforehand and then boxing it up before heading out. In fact, why not prepare the meal with your partner and then head out? The key to this date is hands-on preparation. Make it a bonding experience every step of the way.
Also, the car isn’t there to serve as just transportation, you can also make it a perch for you to sit on. Simply open the trunk or the tailgate and sit. Either that or you can pack a few chairs with you, but that’s kind of leaning into camping a little bit.
Bonus: Camping
Okay fine, why not instead of going to a picnic ground, go to a camping site instead. The only reason why we’ve opted to mention picnicking over camping is that there are some hardcore campers out there that really go to far-flung and remote places for this type of activity. For most people, however, we recommend a campsite that already has enough facilities for you and your date to enjoy so you don’t have to buy or bring the most expensive camping equipment around to have a modicum of comfort on your date.
As such, look around the Tanay, Rizal area or near the Sierra Madre mountain ranges. There are a few campsites there where you can rent a tent, where there is a restaurant nearby, and facilities so you won’t have to worry about bringing too much with you. A quick Google search should be all you need, so hop to it.
Regardless of which option you choose, we wish you the best of luck in planning your Valentine’s date!
