Buying your first car can be a daunting experience as there are more vehicles available on the market than there were before. Choosing between cars under P1,000,000 has gotten even harder as more entries have flooded that price bracket. Enter the MG ZS, a seasoned veteran to the segment which made its debut in the country back in 2018. It ticks all the right boxes for those looking to get an affordable first vehicle. That said, here is a quick list of things that make the MG ZS an ideal first car.
Affordable pricing
The MG ZS is one of the most feature-packed vehicles you can buy in the market today that comes with a sub P1,000,000 price tag. This makes it more attractive and attainable to those working around a budget. Even the entry-level model is a steal as it can be had for a little under P850,000 which makes it ideal for those who want a sporty-looking crossover that can fit almost any budget.
On top of that, the ZS also has a spacious cabin that can easily fit 5 occupants with room for their cargo in the back. When it comes to cargo space, the crossover has plenty of it and even has a low loading lip. This makes it easier for items to be loaded and unloaded from the vehicle without having to lift those items up very far. It also comes with a cargo tonneau that can be removed and also gives the items that you store in the rear a bit of privacy when needed.
Great style
MG didn’t skimp out on the styling of the ZS as it comes with a familiar yet sporty look. You get sleek front headlights with a unique LED daytime running light design along with a large grille that dominates the front fascia. You also get subtle curves and creases at the front that further add to the sporty look of the vehicle. At the back the crossover comes with a square rear-end that looks almost SUV-like in its appearance. It’s boxy and chunky yet MG has managed to sculpt curves into its design to give it a slight touch of sophistication.
Fuel efficient engine
One of the first few things a new car buyer looks for in a vehicle is its fuel efficiency. You want to maximize as much fuel as possible especially if you are working on a tight budget. The MG ZS delivers well in this regard as it was able to get 11.8 km/L in the city and 16.7 km/L on the highway. Overall great fuel economy figures especially for a crossover that has a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 114 hp and 150 Nm of torque that sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
Easy to maneuver
As a first-time buyer or driver, you will want a vehicle that is easy to maneuver. The MG ZS has got you covered as it comes with a dynamic reverse camera that is paired with backup sensors. This lets the driver see where the wheels are pointing at all times while backing up to give them a better view of what the vehicle will do in relation to how they turn the wheel. To add to this, the reverse camera also shows the remaining distance left between the object behind and the rear bumper. A handy feature to have especially if you have a tight parking space or garage.
Modern infotainment system
In the age of smartphones and interconnectivity having your device connected to your vehicle is now becoming a sought-after feature. It is slowly becoming the industry standard that many are looking for in all new vehicles. Having applications such as Apple CarPlay make it easier to connect your phone with the MG ZS. This gives the driver access to their favorite navigation or music streaming apps without having to use their phone and without having to take their eyes off the road.
