When it comes to building compact and practical cars, Suzuki Philippines has got you covered. They have many offerings that cover the sedan and hatchback segment and even the MPV body style as well. One of their noteworthy entries into the Philippine market is the Suzuki Ertiga. It’s an affordable 7-seater MPV that comes well equipped, competitively priced, and even comes with a frugal gasoline engine under its hood. With many attractive features, it’s no wonder that it’s a popular choice for those looking to get an MPV in the country. With that said, here are a couple of reasons why the Ertiga has ground in popularity since its introduction and why it could be your next car.
Competitive price point
One of the key selling points about the Suzuki Ertiga that many people enjoy is its affordable and competitive price range. For under P1,000,000 you get to purchase the top-of-the-line model with all the bells and whistles. However, if you are working with a much tighter budget of around P750,000 then the GA model is there to answer the call. While it is not as feature-rich as its GL and GLX models, it still gets the basics done right with an affordable price tag. With such a wide range of variants to choose from, it’s no wonder why the Suzuki Ertiga has become a popular choice for those looking to get an affordable 7-seater MPV.
Durable and practical interior
Another feature to note from that Suzuki Ertiga is its well-executed and practical interior. While its cabin is predominantly plastic, the panels are well placed and are durable. For those with a budding family, these tough materials are ideal as they can withstand the rigors of daily use and a few scuffs here and there. The Japanese MPV even comes with a black interior option for those who want a low-maintenance cabin.
In terms of usability, everything you need is easily within reach, from the climate controls all the way to the massive infotainment system found in the center of the dashboard. Speaking of the dashboard, it comes with a simple and straightforward design that also manages to squeeze in a hit of premium thanks to the use of faux wood paneling for the higher variant. One trick that the Ertiga has that no many other MPVs in its class have is cooling vents found in the front cup holders, these vents help keep your drinks cool and is a handy feature to have. This goes to show that Suzuki had a few tricks up its sleeve to give the Ertiga that little boost in practicality.
Fuel efficient
Another strong point of the Suzuki Ertiga is its fuel efficiency. During our testing with the MPV, it was able to get 9.4 km/L in the city, while on the highway it was able to get 20.8 km/L. These are impressive figures especially for a vehicle that comes with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine under its hood. That said, the Suzuki Ertiga is ideal for families who want a fuel-efficient vehicle that comes well priced and has a seating capacity of seven.
Infotainment system
Interested buyers of the Suzuki Ertiga are spoiled for choice when it comes to the infotainment systems that the vehicle has. For its low to mid-tier variants, the MPV can be had with either a 1DIN radio for the GA variant or an 8-inch head unit for the GL model. However, the one to get is the 10-inch infotainment system found in the GLX variant. Not only does it come standard with AUX-in, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity, but it also comes with offline navigation as well. It may not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, but it still comes with a reliable form of navigation that can get you where you need to go even when your smartphone loses signal.
Flexible seating
A hallmark of a great MPV is in its flexible seating, an area which the Suzuki Ertiga delivers very well. Cargo space is great inside the vehicle as the third row can be folded flat allowing for more trunk space. Even with the third row folded down, the loading lip is even all throughout making it easier to load and unload cargo. The second row also has the ability to slide which creates more room, if needed, for the third row. Also folding down the second row for better access to the rear is also a breeze making ingress and egress from the MPV easier for the rear passengers. Speaking of rear passengers, there are plenty of air vents in the vehicle to help keep its occupants cool, even in the hottest of summers.
It’s not hard to see why the Suzuki Ertiga has become a popular MPV in its segment in the Philippines. It offers buyers the flexibility one would expect in a vehicle of its body type and comes with a frugal gasoline engine to match. Despite its size, the Ertiga does well to maximize its interior space making sure that everyone is comfortable inside the vehicle.
