The Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) was the brainchild of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), a group of some of the country’s top automotive manufacturers and governing bodies who were the prime movers and shakers of the industry for many years, and counting.
This year’s PIMS will spotlight a number of key automobiles that helped shape the Philippine motoring industry to what it is today, and by its theme “Progress in Motion”, expect not only the new, exciting, and futuristic models of this automotive generation, but also an array of nostalgia-inducing car displays that give the term “A trip down memory lane” a more colourful meaning. And, as if taking part in a history class, this retrospective exhibit entitled, “Progress in Motion: The Evolution of Philippine Motoring Industry” will showcase 12 of the country’s most iconic automobile models that have made the Philippine car culture to greatly thrive for the last six decades.
Show goers and car enthusiasts of all ages are advised to ready their cameras as classic models like the 1950’s and 60’s Mercedes-Benz and VWs will come alive once again. Beautifully restored back to their heyday conditions, these and other icons like the 70’s Toyota Sprinter, the 80’s Mitsubishi Lancer Boxtype, and a group of cars that our “batang 90’s” car nuts can relate to, like the Mazda Miata, Kia Pride, Honda Civic EG hatchback, BMW 3 Series, Peugeot 205GT, and the Isuzu Hi-Lander. Transiting to the early 2000’s, models like the Suzuki Swift and the “Proudly Filipino-Designed” Nissan 370Z will also be on display, representing the Philippine motoring beat’s smokin’ hot start to the 21st century.
Aside from these automotive glitz and glamour, the 5th PIMS will also feature an elaborate “After-Sales Exhibit”. A first for this industry-led car show, the After-Sales Exhibit will be comprised of the motor show’s participating automotive manufacturers displaying their latest models, along with the many exciting deals and packages they come with. This exhibit aims to highlight the best customer service and after-sales treats that these car brands can offer, that will surely give people the most satisfying feelings of accomplishment upon owning a brand new car. And, for those who are on the look-out for genuine parts, accessories, and worry-free services for their existing cars, the 5th PIMS’ After-Sales Exhibit is the place to be.
“Some new buyers missed out on the importance of After-Sales Support,” says CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez. “Through the After-Sales Exhibit, we would like to show our customers that we’re more than about selling cars. Rather, our goal is to have an ongoing relationship with our customers, and to be able to provide them with the best after-sales support and experience.”
All these, and a whole lot more can be expected as they 5th CAMPI Philippine International Motor Show rolls out closer to green light. The next step towards greater mobility and economic growth for the Philippine motoring industry begins this 18th to the 21st of September at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
“The main motivator in the success of previous Philippine International Motor Shows is its function to show the country that the automotive industry works as one in promoting progress. Our strength lies in the bond among the 16 automotive brands working for the common goal which is the triumph of the industry,” said CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez.
“This year, PIMS will celebrate the motoring industry’s continuous progress and more so, the positive changes that the industry brings to our consumers and to the country’s economic standing,” Atty. Gutierrez concluded.
The 16 top automotive brands participating this year include: BAIC, BMW, Daewoo, Honda, Isuzu, JMC, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
