It seems that Mitsubishi Philippines will be launching the heavily-refreshed 2019 Strada much sooner than we thought. Spotted by our friends at Go Flat Out, they were able to take a few spy shots of a single Graphite Grey 2019 Mitsubishi Strada roaming around the Sta. Rosa, Laguna area.
With the body completely exposed, save for some tape to prevent damage during manufacturing, the 2019 Strada was seen doing some road testing with passengers, which makes sense since the area where the shots were taken are in close proximity to the Mitsubishi’s manufacturing plant and joint training center with Nissan. This sighting comes not very long after the reveal of the 2019 Mitsubishi Strada in Bangkok, Thailand last November 9, 2018, meaning that they didn’t waste much time getting some units to our shores.
The 2019 Mitsubishi Strada is a mid-cycle refresh and adopts the Dynamic Shield seen in the latest products coming from the Japanese brand. The X fascia coupled with slim LED headlights and large foglights seems to be a thing these days, but the 2019 Strada’s front doesn’t look as busy as the Xpander’s. Highlights of the 2019 Mitsubishi Strada include a new six-speed transmission, a new 4WD system with off-road mode, and a plethora of safety additions, such as Forward Collision Mitigation, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Warning. The Ultrasonic Misaccleration Mitigation System has also been made standard, and will prevent the vehicle from accelerating or reversing if it senses objects in close proximity.
Our guess is that a December launch or at least a January 2019 launch are in the works for the Strada, but here’s our best local look at it so far. We’re pretty excited to see how the 2019 Strada spices up the local pickup segment, and we’ll be on our toes waiting for more information to share with you all.
