The Auto Nation Group (ANG) the official distributors of Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles in the Philippines has just unveiled the 2020 Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade into the country. Both of the new models now come with a better price point compared to the previous incarnations.
The 2020 Jeep Renegade comes to the Philippines with a starting price of P1,640,000 for the Longitude trim-level and tops out at P1,790,000 for its Limited variant. This makes it the most affordable Jeep vehicle to be sold in the Philippines currently. With its launch into the country, ANG is also offering interested buyers a P50,000 launch discount to celebrate the arrival of the new Renegade into the country. It is important to note that the model in question is not the facelifted version available in other markets. It still carries Jeep’s iconic 7-slotted grille, same modern yet rugged look, and a sporty stance ideal for urban environments. It also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and halogen headlights paired with daytime running lights. At the rear it features a pair of X design LED taillights.
On the inside, the Jeep Renegade features a 7-inch Uconnect 4 infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife capabilities which send sound through a 6-speaker system. Present in the vehicle is also a panoramic sunroof allowing for better natural lighting. Powering the vehicle is a 1.4-liter Tjet inline-4 turbocharged gasoline that produces 147 hp and 230 Nm of torque that sends it to the front wheels via a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission.
The 2020 Jeep Compass on the other hand enters the local automotive market with a starting price of P1,850,000. The 2020 model now comes with American brand’s iconic 7-slot grille, halogen headlights, bulb-type daytime running lights, a new pair of LED taillights, and a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, the Jeep Compass comes with a 7-inch Uconnect t4 touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay capabilities and Baidu CarLife. Sound is sent around the vehicle through a 6-speaker audio system.
The Compass is powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir inline-4 turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 162 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a 7-speed dry dual-clutch transmission. For safety, the Jeep Compass comes with 7 airbags, electronic stability control, run-down battery protection, a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors. Just like its Renegade sibling it too comes with a P50,000 launch discount to celebrate the arrival of both new models in the Philippines.
The reasoning behind the new pricing for these two new vehicles is that they are now assembled in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) plant in China. The facility is a 50/50 joint venture between GAC Motor and the auto group. Through this partnership, the American brand was able to make its pricing more affordable for the Philippine market. It was able to take advantage of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement to keep these vehicles at a more competitive price point.
