Porsche Philippines has recently announced that the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS is now available in its showrooms. This track monster brings significant enhancements to its engine, cooling components, and aerodynamic design, all of which have been drawn from the expertise of Porsche's motorsport division.
Being the most track-focused 911 in Porsche’s stable, the GT3 RS features aerodynamic components to generate tremendous amounts of downforce. Winglets, elongated sill panels along the lower bodywork, and supplementary aerodynamic elements beneath, all work together to produce optimal downforce. However, the most prominent aerodynamic attribute of the GT3 RS becomes evident at the rear—a sizable two-tier rear spoiler that can be electronically fine-tuned for different track layouts and speeds.
The 992-generation GT3 RS also has a centrally-mounted radiator design which replaces the former three-radiator setup found in earlier 911 GT3 RS iterations. This allows Porsche to integrate more advanced active aerodynamic components.
The result of all these aero components is a racecar level of aerodynamic downforce. The current 911 GT3 RS can generate a remarkable 409 kg of downforce at a speed of 200 km/h—a twofold increase compared to its 991.2-generation predecessor. Push it to 285 km/h km/h and the GT3 RS will experience 860 kg of downforce.
Inside the cockpit of the GT3 RS is a clean and simple interior layout, continuing the focused theme of the GT3 RS. Key features include the quartet of rotary knobs and the DRS button integrated into the steering wheel. These knobs enable the selection of three distinct driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Track. Vital car data can be accessed through the dual seven-inch displays, while gearshift indicators flank the analog tachometer. Accompanying these elements are hip-hugging bucket seats.
Propelling the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, generating an impressive 518 hp. This powerhouse incorporates a single-throttle intake system and a robust valve drive mechanism inspired by the triumphant 911 RSR and GT3 R race cars from Porsche's Le Mans endeavors. The engine is seamlessly mated to a seven-speed PDK gearbox with condensed gear ratios, enabling the 911 GT3 RS to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The GT3 RS nearly touches 300 km/h with a top speed of 296 km/h. Oh, and before we forget, the flat-six inside the GT3 RS produces all that power without forced induction.
