The Nissan X-Trail used to be a mainstay of Nissan’s lineup here in the Philippines. The Nissan X-Trail was sold from the very first T30 generation all the way to the T32. The third generation of the X-Trail was the last model the Philippines got since the nameplate was axed sometime around 2022.
Though we don’t have the X-Trail now, the nameplate still lives on in some parts of the world. Over in the US, the crossover is sold as the Rogue and it has just received its first major update since it launched back in 2020. The changes start with an updated front-end design that seamlessly incorporates Nissan's latest V-motion grille. At the rear, the taillights have been enlarged, and the badges now feature a satin silver finish. For the higher trim models, there are sleek gloss-black accents and the option for wheel sizes as large as 19 inches in diameter.
Inside the cabin of the 2024 Rogue, you'll discover a significant upgrade, as it becomes the first Nissan model to incorporate Google directly. This inclusion comes with a five-year plan and is offered alongside an enhanced infotainment system featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the SL and Platinum models. This integration includes access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play, all without the need to pair your smartphone with the vehicle.
Under the hood, the Rogue is still powered by a three-cylinder, KR15DDT 1.5-liter engine. This variable-compression turbocharged powerplant was introduced in the 2022 model year, replacing the previous 2.5-liter engine. The engine now delivers 201 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque, which is sent to the road through an updated continuously variable transmission (CVT) introduced in the 2022 Rogue. Despite losing one cylinder, the Rogue’s current engine is more powerful than the previous 2.5-liter QR engine. Providing a big jump in torque and a slight increase in horsepower.
In the Philippines, the only compact crossover offering in Nissan’s stable is the Kicks e-POWER. As for information on whether Nissan will bring the new X-Trail back to the Philippines, we’re afraid that’s information that is not currently available.
