This has evolved over the years to an anticipated major classic car event, where various classic VW owners converge and compete for automotive excellence, both in function and looks. Criteria for judging is broken down into 70% function and 30% looks.
A best of show award historically averaged between 92 and 95 pts scored for the competition.
This year’s VW SHOW aims to be the biggest to date, with a display of the new VW Generation Beetle recently introduced to the Philippine market by the Ayala owned Automobile Central Enterprise (ACE).
Participants vie for the classic VWCP BEST OF SHOW trophy as the top plum, and the VWCP Best in Class trophies. No cash prizes were ever awarded, just bragging rights. This year’s VW SHOW aims to be the biggest to date, with a display of the new VW Generation Beetle recently introduced to the Philippine market by the Ayala owned Automobile Central Enterprise (ACE).
It will be held at the Grand Parade Grounds of Camp Aguinaldo on December 7, 2014, Sunday, from 8am to 6pm. Side events include parts swap meet, novelty items sale, die-cast cars display, music, food, raffle and give away prizes and many more. The show opens at 7am, to all interested car owners and lovers from all sectors and all brands. Come one, come all.
THE VW CLUB OF THE PHILIPPINES
The VWCP is a non-stock, non-profit organization registered in the Phil SEC. It has been in existence since 1985.The officers and members of this national car club have three main advocacies.
a.) To preserve and/or restore existing classic air-cooled Volkswagens of all variants, led by all time icon of practical transportation – the VW BEETLE.
b.) To promote camaraderie among all Volkswagen owners/restores/& VW club members.
c.) To make a difference among our marginalized Filipino brothers and sisters via outreach programs to the elderly, the orphans, calamity victims and the like.
The mother chapter, MANILA NCR, has a roster of 800 members.
They have 14 provincial VWCP chapters, each headed by their own officers, and each one duly accredited by VWCP MANILA as a bona-fide provincial chapter. These fourteen chapters are: Cauayan Isabela, Bulacan, Santiago Isabela, Batangas, Baguio City, Laguna, Pangasinan East, Quezon Province, Pangasinan West, Iloilo, Tarlac, Bacolod and Nueva Ecija.
Each chapter has an average of sixty active members.
