After teaser images, the 2022 Kia Sportage is officially unveiled to the public. The new model brings with it an evolutionary sharper design that looks nothing like its curvy predecessor. It now comes with a much more aggressive and muscular look along with a spacious and high-tech cabin. Despite its reveal, other specifications about the vehicle are still unknown.
Exterior
Compared to the outgoing model, the all-new vehicle comes with a sharper design language thanks to its angular front end and LED daytime running lights. It also has a bolder front facia that features a large front grille, cube-shaped headlights, fog lights, and a muscular lower bumper design.
Over at the rear, the design theme continues as it gets a swept-back D-pillar along with an aggressive rear bumper and sharp rear LED taillights. Aside from this, the crossover also gets a new set of alloy wheels along with a panoramic sunroof for the higher-tier variants of the Kia Sportage.
Interior
Moving onto the cabin of the 2022 Kia Sportage and the crossover features a more refined interior compared to its predecessor. The interior gets piano-black accents, faux aluminum trim pieces, and multiple displays. Instead of the traditional gauge cluster, the crossover gets a new digital instrument panel that is paired with a large and curved LED display infotainment system. Flanking either side of these displays are new L-shaped air condition vents that aid in highlighting the vehicle’s new and more modern design language.
Meanwhile, for its center console, the gear shifter has been replaced by a rotary knob. While it may seem like a controversial decision it works well with the overall aesthetics of the vehicle and does not take away from its functionality. Aside from this, a push-button start system has been added along with a touchpad for the infotainment system. Additionally, the all-new 2022 Kia Sportage can also be had with a two-tone interior.
Power
As for what lies beneath the hood of the all-new Kia Sportage, it is still a mystery as the South Koren automaker has yet to disclose its powerplant of choice. However, we can safely assume that it will like come with turbo-gasoline or turbo-diesel engines for select markets. A hybrid drivetrain could also be a real possibility for the vehicle as there has been an increase in demand and popularity for it as well.
For now, we will have to wait for Kia to release the official powertrain options for the 2022 Kia Sportage and wait for its other specifications to be released as well. As this is a 2022 model, we will still need to wait a while for the crossover to be released in other markets before we can see it launch locally.
