The wait is almost over. After launching in North America this past June, the 11th-generation Honda Civic will go on sale in the Philippines beginning November 23, 2021.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has revealed several key details about the upcoming launch of the local-spec Civics. Starting with the engine, the company has confirmed that all variants will receive a VTEC Turbo engine as standard. That's great news for those looking to snag a turbo Civic at the lowest possible price point.
Standard VTEC Turbo engine
As for what turbocharged engine Honda is packing under the 2022 Civic's hood, we don't know for sure. The Thailand-spec model has a 1.5-liter L15C turbo power plant that delivers 176 hp and 240 Nm of torque. In any case, we'll know the official power figures when the launch date arrives. Though, it’s very likely that we’ll receive the same spec engine as the Thais.
Standard Honda SENSING
Honda Philippines also shared that the new Civics will get the full Honda SENSING package as standard. These highly advanced safety features include a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and Auto High-Beam (AHB) for superior crash avoidance. The package also features a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and a Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW).
There's also Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF). Lastly, new on the 2022 Civic is the Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN), which informs the driver when the car in front of them has accelerated from a stop.
Stellar safety rating
In addition to the advanced safety features, the Civic itself was engineered to be one of the safest sedans available today. The 2022 Civic recently received a 5-star rating from the ASEAN NCAP under the latest 2021-2025 testing protocol. The Civic finished with excellent scores, highlighting Honda's commitment to producing dependable vehicles.
Local variants for the 2022 Honda Civic
The all-new Honda Civic will be available in three variants with different color options:
- All-New Civic S Turbo CVT Honda SENSING (Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Morning Mist Blue Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic)
- All-New Civic V Turbo CVT Honda SENSING (Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Morning Mist Blue Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl)
- All-New Civic RS Turbo CVT Honda SENSING (Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Ignite Red Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl)
While exact pricing has yet to be revealed, Honda says the all-new Civic will start at P1,300,000 and go up to P1,700,000.
Availability
Honda Philippines is now taking reservations for the 2022 Civic. Interested buyers can head to their local dealership to make the reservation. As part of its launch celebration, Honda is offering customers the Platinum White Pearl paint scheme for all variants at no additional cost until November 30, 2021.
More than that, customers who reserve the V Turbo CVT variant until December 31, 2021, will get a free Modulo trunk tray and a Modulo exhaust pipe finisher. This variant will reportedly arrive in January 2022.
As for the rest of the variants, these should be available upon launch. The 2022 Honda Civic will arrive in the Philippines on November 23, 2021. Tune in to HCPI's Facebook page at 12:30 PM to catch the launch live.
