Motor Image Pilipinas launched the all-new Subaru BRZ on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show. The second-generation sports coupe gains a performance boost, sportier handling, and a host of safety features through Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.
Exterior
The all-new Subaru BRZ features a significant redesign that has made it lower-riding and meaner-looking. The coupe features revised proportions, with a body that’s longer by 25mm and lower by 10mm. A 5mm addition to the wheelbase and 10mm to the track ensures a more planted ride.
The BRZ packs an impressive aero package that includes side sill spoilers, vortex-generating fins at the rear, and a decidedly aggressive integrated ducktail spoiler. To round out the exterior package, Subaru updated the wheels package from 17-inch to 18-inch gunmetal gray alloy wheels.
Interior and technology

Stepping inside, we see a straightforward yet sporty cockpit with an adequate mix of practicality and technology. The front seats feature a mix of real leather and Ultrasuede, and the double-stitched red accents all around the interior provide an interesting visual experience.
The instrument cluster puts the tachometer front and center, bolstered by a seven-inch TFT LCD panel that displays driving information and drive mode themes. The display is programmable to show data such as power and torque, g-force, fuel consumption and more.
The BRZ is a modern coupe through and through, featuring an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice recognition, USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Sound is outputted through six speakers.
For this year's model, Subaru is highlighting the BRZ’s new Eyesight Driver Assist capabilities. The higher-spec version gets this package, which includes features like Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Sway Warning, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, and Reverse Automatic Braking.
Meanwhile, standard safety features for the BRZ include seven airbags, sport-tuned Vehicle Stability Control, Steering Responsive Headlights, Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Power

As for power and performance, the 2022 Subaru BRZ packs a naturally aspirated, four-cylinder, horizontally-opposed boxer engine that delivers 234 hp at 7,000 RPM and 250 Nm of torque at 3,700 RPM. Either a manual or six-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels.
Subaru says a better-tuned electronic throttle provides a quicker accelerator response, giving whoever’s behind the wheel more exact control and cornering ability. The manual version can go from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.3 seconds, while the automatic variant isn’t far behind with 6.8 seconds.
Pricing

The all-new Subaru BRZ comes available in two variants: the BRZ 2.4 MT and BRZ 2.4 Automatic EyeSight. The former carries a suggested retail price (SRP) of P2,399,000, while the latter is P100,00 more expensive at P2,499,000.
Seven colors are available, including Ignition Red, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Sapphire Blue Pearl, WR Blue Pearl, Crystal Black Silica, Crystal White Pearl, and Ice Silver Metallic. For full specs and pricing information, visit our Car Guide for the all-new Subaru BRZ.
