BAIC Philippines has officially launched the newest member in its SUV family, the BJ20 crossover SUV. With introduction of this new vehicle, the Chinese marque aims to give what every Filipino family wants: a quality vehicle with affordable price.
The BJ20 sports a feisty-looking appearance, looking like a mad man with furrowed eyebrows and chrome grille. Adding to its furious presence are the round headlights with blue-toned reflector discs, daytime running lights, and a protruding bumper. This family car also boasts straight-topped fender wells, deeply carved character lines and huge wheels, which completes its bold warrior aura.
Speaking of its huge set of wheels, the BJ20 comes with 215mm ground clearance, which is the highest in its class. This FWD vehicle can handle different road conditions, be it on a paved road or uneven surfaces.
Powering this compact crossover is a Euro 5-compliant, turbocharged 1.5L gasoline engine with the brand’s MIVEC variable-valve-timing (VVT) system. This advanced valve train system enhances the engine’s intake to achieve quicker and longer turbo boost. This powertrain can put out a maximum output of 147 hp and 210 Nm of torque, complemented with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT).
Customers can get their hands on the BJ20 SUV at a price of P1,148,000 for standard, while the Luxury edition is priced at P1,288,000.
M50S makes its official public reveal
Aside from BJ20, another notable vehicle has come; the better version of the brand’s late M20. Fortifying BAIC’s MPV segment, the updated M50S brags its edgy body-on-frame structure with an RWD’s solid rear axle. When it comes to exterior styling, the M50S got even more striking thanks to its black polymer armor that can protect the car from damages.
This three-row vehicle comes with two seat variants: an 8-seat version with a middle-row bench and a 7-seat version with bucket seats. The seats are now cladded with microfiber leather to give its passengers a comfortable ride. Driving to your destination won’t be boring as the M50S is equipped with an infotainment system, which is paired with a reverse camera that features clear visuals of a large multi-function display.
At the heart of M50S is a 1.5L Euro 5-compliant gasoline engine that can deliver up to 114 hp and 150 Nm of torque. With all these features, the M50S compact SUV 7- or 8-seater Luxury variant is priced at P638,000. The 7-seat Ultra-Luxury version, on the other hand, comes at P668,000.
