The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar finally confirms that the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ortigas Bridge will open on June 12, 2021, Independence Day.
Currently, safety checking is being conducted in order to ensure its built quality and conform with the safety standards, some finishing touches are also being done to the new 440-meter bridge. From the usual 1-hour drive, motorists coming from BGC can already reach Ortigas or vice versa in just 12-minutes.
Aside from seamlessly connecting BGC to Pasig City/Mandaluyong City by a travel time of 12 minutes, the P1,793,000,000 infrastructure project is part of the government’s program of decongesting the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA). Major roads like EDSA are expected to decongest more than 10% in volume because of this project. Moreover, the BGC-Ortigas Bridge is expected to accommodate around 50,000 vehicles per day. As per the DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, "the entrance of the bridge is at Kalayaan (Avenue) and the exit is at Fairlane in Ortigas".
Now, the government agency shall fulfill its promise by opening the newly constructed bridge which should bring better convenience to those motorists who are to travel to Pasig, Mandaluyong, and Taguig cities. Again, the opening is slated for June 12, 2021, Independence Day. Perhaps, that should make it a more exciting and memorable opening.
As promised, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City leading to Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City will be connected to Pasig City/Mandaluyong City by the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge on the historic day our nation commemorates (its) 123rd Independence Day.
The BGC-Ortigas bridge is part of the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program. Once it’s finally open on June 12, the usual 1-hour drive, motorists coming from BGC can already reach Ortigas or vice versa in just 12-minutes.
