SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp, the authorized importer, and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, is expanding the 3 Series range with the introduction of the new BMW 3 Series Touring. The new model offers three variants and provides a stylish and sportier alternative to SUVs and crossovers.
Spencer Yu, President of SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., stated that the addition of the Touring models enhances the existing lineup of BMW cars in the Philippines. The 318i Touring, M340i xDrive Touring, and the highly anticipated M3 Touring offer customers a wide range of choices, combining functionality, performance, and a distinctive sense of style.
Both the 318i Touring and M340i xDrive Touring exhibit a sporty look with the M High-gloss Shadowline, while the M340i xDrive Touring comes with the M Sport Package Pro and the 318i Touring features the Exterior Line Satin Aluminum trim. The two variants also have different sets of wheels, reflecting their individual character.
Joining the 3 Series Touring range is the M3 Competition xDrive Touring, the first-ever Touring model from BMW M since the M5 Touring. It boasts distinctive design elements such as a vertically-oriented kidney grille, large side air intakes, sculpted wheel arches, extended side skirts, M High-gloss Shadowline trim, M roof rails, and a Gurney air-directing flap incorporated into the roof spoiler.
The interior trim varies depending on the variant, with the BMW 318i Touring featuring Aluminum "Mesh Effect" finishers and the BMW M340i xDrive Touring equipped with M Carbon Fiber finishers. The 318i Touring and M340i xDrive Touring offer sports seats for both the driver and front passenger, while the M3 Competition xDrive Touring includes electrically adjustable M Sport seats with memory function, seat heating, and Merino leather with extended bolsters as standard.
All models of the new BMW 3 Series Touring feature the BMW Widescreen Curved Display, which combines a 14.9-inch control display and a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel. These displays run on the latest-generation BMW Operating System 8 and provide optimized wireless smartphone integration, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, a wireless charging tray is available for enhanced connectivity on the road.
To enhance the infotainment experience, the BMW 318i Touring comes with the BMW HiFi Loudspeaker system, while the BMW M340i xDrive Touring is equipped with the Harman Kardon Surround Sound system. The BMW M3 Competition xDrive Touring includes standard comfort features such as three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Plus with navigation, ambient lighting, and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.
In terms of safety, the BMW 3 Series Touring offers a comprehensive range of driver assistance systems. It includes an automated parking system, utilizing sensors and camera images to monitor the surroundings and alert the driver to potential hazards. The system also assists with steering, braking, and parking maneuvers.
The BMW 318i Touring is powered by an inline-four BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, delivering 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The BMW M340i xDrive Touring features the M TwinPower Turbo Petrol engine with 374 hp and 500 Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. This allows the M340i xDrive Touring to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
As for the BMW M3 Competition xDrive Touring, it houses the S58 version of the six-cylinder inline engine developed specifically for the Competition models. With a maximum output of 510 horsepower and peak torque of 650 Nm, it delivers impressive performance. The M3 Touring also features a sport tuned chassis, adaptive M suspension, M Servotronic steering, and an integrated braking system. It comes equipped with M Compound brakes, standard forged M light-alloy wheels, and various driving modes such as M Dynamic Mode and M Traction Control.
When it comes to storage, all variants of the BMW 3 Series Touring offer a generous 500-liter luggage compartment with the seats up, along with a roller tonneau cover for added privacy and security. Folding down the 40:20:40 rear seat backrest expands the storage space to a maximum of 1,510 liters. The car also features a separate luggage compartment window, facilitating the loading and unloading of smaller objects.
In terms of pricing, the BMW 318i Touring is priced at P3,890,000, the BMW M340i xDrive Touring at P5,890,000, and the BMW M3 Competition xDrive Touring at P10,490,000. All variants of the BMW 3 Series Touring come with a five-year comprehensive BMW Warranty, ensuring peace of mind for customers.
