The crossover segment in the Philippines is extremely competitive, with plenty of options ranging from fully electric to hybrid vehicles. Amidst this bustling market, BYD, a powerhouse in the EV scene, has unveiled its latest offering—the BYD Sealion 6—on July 25, 2024, at the Glorietta Activity Center.
BYD has long been a dominant player in the electric vehicle industry, having overtaken Tesla as the leading EV manufacturer globally. Now, the BYD Sealion 6 aims to make a significant impact in the local crossover market with its impressive specs and features.
The BYD Sealion 6 is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that primarily relies on its electric motor for propulsion, with the engine serving as a range extender. This 1.5-liter engine produces 105 hp and 135 Nm of torque. The front wheels are powered by an electric motor generating 194 hp and 325 Nm of torque. While the engine keeps the battery charged, the batteries can also be charged at home or at charging stations, offering flexibility and convenience.
Each purchase includes a 7kW home charging system equipped with a type 2 connector, compatible with most stations. The Sealion 6 can travel up to 100 kilometers on battery power alone, and BYD claims a total range of over 1,000 kilometers.
Inside, the Sealion 6 boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen. The interior is luxuriously appointed with leather, soft-touch materials, and a large panoramic sunroof. Technology features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless chargers, a voice assistant, over-the-air updates, BYD Cloud Service, and 4G connectivity. An Infinity 10-speaker sound system comes standard, ensuring premium audio quality.
For safety, the Sealion 6 is equipped with DiPilot, BYD’s advanced driver assist system. This includes a 360-degree view camera with See-Through Mode, a radar system with six sensors, and full-speed adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capabilities.
Offered in a single variant, the BYD Sealion 6 carries a sticker price of P1,548,000. Interested buyers can visit AutoDeal.com.ph to learn more about this car and the rest of BYD’s lineup. By hitting “Get Quote,” potential customers can receive an official quote from trusted dealers within minutes.
