More bottleneck traffic is expected to occur along the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) due to major construction and rehabilitation works that are scheduled in the coming months. Other nearby areas are also likely to be affected by the buildup of traffic.
The announcement was made by the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC). Despite the current situation brought about by the pandemic, the CIC says that they are doubling their construction efforts to make sure the completion schedule of the new segments of the C-5 Link expressway is on time, slated 2022.
We are doubling our efforts on the construction of Segment 2 and Segment 3A-2 this beginning of 2021. With the challenges brought about by the pandemic, we will ensure to stick to the timeline as close as we can and be able to open the new segments in Cavitex C-5 Link next year.
The C-5 link expressway is composed of the Segment 2, which is a 2x3 lane road from Cavitex (R1) Expressway to the proposed interchange at Sucat. It stretches by about 1.9 km. Second is the sub-section of Segment 3, which is Segment 3A-2, spanning about 1.6 km, and is also a 2x3 lane expressway that goes from Merville to RSG (Airport View) Subdivision in Parañaque. Both segments are expected to be completed by the second-quarter of 2022. As of now, only the 2.2 km Segment 3B has been open to the public.
The 7.7 km toll road is expected to serve 50,000 cars daily, once the segments are completed. Notably, travel time from Cavitex R-1 to C5 Taguig will also be significantly reduced from more than an hour to only ten minutes.
On the other hand, CAVITEX will also undergo a major maintenance work, with mobilization already begun last February 27, 2021, which will last for about 60 days. In line with all these, a comprehensive traffic management plan has already been laid out to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles along the area.
There will definitely be an effect on the passage of our motorists in the construction areas, that is why we have laid out a comprehensive traffic management plan supporting all these works to ease their passage and additional on-ground support and more than ample signages will also be positioned to ensure safety and smooth flow of vehicles.
