Chery is set to open its latest dealership on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. The announcement was made through the United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), official distributor of Chery vehicles in the Philippines.
The local car lineup for Chery includes the Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5X, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8. The Chery Tiggo 2 serves as the brand's entry-level crossover. The Tiggo 2 features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 106 hp and 135 Nm of torque. Drivetrain options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. The Tiggo 2 starts at P695,000.
The Chery Tiggo 8, meanwhile, is the Chinese automaker's entry in the midsize crossover segment. This 7-seater is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that outputs 145 hp and 210 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As for features, the Tiggo 8 is loaded with modern creature comforts such as cruise control, push start button, front and rear parking sensors, dual climate control, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Chery Tiggo 8 has a starting price of P1,280,000.
Chery is targeting the 4th quarter of 2021 for opening its new dealership, and once inaugurated, it will be the brand's 6th location in Metro Manila alone. Chery Auto Philippines currently has 19 dealerships in total. Beyond the new Commonwealth location, Chery is planning to open eight more dealerships in the near future, including ones in Pasay City, Pampanga, Zambales, Pangasinan, Batangas, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro.
Warmly accepted by many Filipinos, the Chery brand was able to rapidly expand across the archipelago. On this topic, Chery Auto Philippines President Rommel Sytin had this to say, “We are overwhelmed with the acceptance of our market. Chery Auto Philippines will remain aggressive in tapping more automotive rows not just in the metro but also in the local provinces to ensure that businesses, families, and the Filipino lifestyles get to experience the fun and function in every journey with Chery.”
