If you may remember last year, the Nissan Almera, or Versa as it’s sold over in the US, got a refreshed exterior for 2023. Now, this May, the updated Almera will be landing in Thailand on May 11, 2023, marking its debut in Southeast Asia.
Nissan introduced a bunch of new styling upgrades for their compact car when it debuted in the United States. The Nissan Almera that Thailand will get, however, might receive some minor styling alterations since US vehicles need a bit of modification to adhere to US regulations. Don’t worry though, the vehicle presented in America will closely resemble the version that will be available for purchase in Southeast Asia.

The first major update that Nissan gave the Almera is its new V-Motion grille. This style element has been a defining feature of practically all current Nissan models of recent years, this time, however, Nissan is giving it a rethink. Instead of the metallic “V” bar which is a trademark of the V-Motion grille, the Almera distinguishes itself with its unique grid pattern on the grille and the latest Nissan emblem adorning the front.
In addition, the headlights also get a redesign, now featuring LED DRLs in a distinct, sleek shape. Down below, Nissan has introduced a fresh set of 17-inch wheels with a diamond-cut, two-tone finish. These wheels will be exclusive to the SR Variant of the Versa for the US market, a trim that is not available in the Almera’s sold in the Philippines, so the ASEAN market might get a different set of rims.

As for power? We think it’s unlikely that the 2023 Nissan Almera will undergo significant changes under the hood. So expect that Nissan’s subcompact will retain its existing 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine. The engine we’ve got in the current Almera pumps out 99 hp and generates a torque of 160 or 152 Nm depending on the transmission.
