Ford Philippines is coming off the successful launches of the next-generation Ford Ranger and the Ford Everest. With good momentum behind it, it appears that the Blue Oval wants to launch another new model soon. While the details of what that new model is, are still unknown, a report from Autoindustriya.com is stating that it will come with a V6 Ecoboost engine.
It appears that Ford Group Philippines has already received approval for a passenger vehicle that has a gasoline engine displacement of 2,687cc. Since the majority of the vehicles within Ford’s local lineups are diesel-powered with the exception of its more powerful performance cars, the Ford Explorer, and the Ford Territory, this new engine could be for a new model or a new variant for an existing vehicle.
A highly likely candidate for this 2.7-liter gasoline engine could be the Ford F-150 which is only currently available with a 3.0-liter Powerstroke turbo diesel under its hood. With gasoline prices being more affordable than diesel it makes sense for the Blue Oval brand to bring in a V6 for the pickup truck.
Another possibility is that the new 2.7-liter gasoline V6 engine could be for a new model. Upon checking the brand’s global lineup of vehicles a likely candidate is the Ford Bronco. Gray market imports of the vehicle have already made their way to the Philippines with V6 power producing around 330 hp and 563 Nm of torque. This could give Ford Philippines an edge in the local market as the Bronco already has a solid fanbase both globally and locally with a 4x4 community.
With 2022 about to end, it is unlikely that Ford Philippines will be launching a new vehicle this year, however, we can expect the new model or the new variant of an existing model to launch sometime in 2023.
