The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Formula E welcomes a new era of electric racing with the introduction of its Gen2 race car, scheduled to be used for the next three years starting with 2018-2019 season.
The new machine, which will be used by all teams, features aggressive angles that will give batman’s batmobile a run for its money. Aside from what seems to be a wider chassis, the Gen2 race car now has wheel covers that’s similar to the top tier race cars we see at 24 hour endurance races. Moreover, the electric racer comes with the Halo cockpit device for additional safety.
Meanwhile, its battery has almost double the energy storage and range of the current machine. With this, fans can expect higher speeds for the full length of the race. Yes, this means that Formula E finally removed the mid-race car swap.
When we started Formula E, our goal was to break the mould and challenge the status quo - bringing a revolution to motorsport. This next generation car represents that revolution.
The Formula E Gen2 racer will make its official debut at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show this March.
