Geely is set to revolutionize the new generation of Chinese vehicles in the Philippines by introducing hybrid technology into its lineup. The brand also aims to make the new fuel-saving technology become mainstream in the country. With 6 months of operation in the local industry under its belt, Geely Philippines is set to introduce another new vehicle into its line up. The brand is holding to its word that it would be launch a new model every six months. The new car in question is a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV), which is said to offer a more economic, dynamic, and comfortable driving experience. Hints point to it being the Atlas, which was displayed at the brand’s North Edsa dealership alongside a plug-in hybrid version of the Coolray.

The next-generation compact SUV comes powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine complemented by a 48V belt-starter generator integrated on the front-end accessory drive of the engine. The vehicle also comes with a 48V-12 DC converter, 48V lithium-ion battery module, and a battery management system. In order to recover some of the lost power from braking, the vehicle comes with regenerative braking.
Hybrid and electric vehicle technology is becoming increasingly popular in the auto industry. This is where the future is heading to. 2020 is definitely going to be a landmark year for Geely in the Philippine automotive market as it steps up its game, with the introduction of the MHEV.
The mild-hybrid technology in the upcoming vehicle gives it various electric functions. Among these is an intelligent start and stop, smart sailing, and energy recycle. These functions shut off the engine when not needed and are designed to shift to battery power when optimal.
The MHEV is set to be launched in the second quarter of 2020 with the new model being considered as the Coolray’s bigger brother. Coming from the success of its crossover Geely Philippines is confident that the new model will also be a market success, given its new technology, exciting styling, and spacious interior. This is going to be a vehicle that should be on your shortlist when it officially launches in the country.
