Patent images of the next generation Isuzu mu-X from Japan have made its way online. The photos show a new front face that is similar to that of its Isuzu D-max pickup counterpart. It is important to remember that both vehicles do share the same platform and as such, features that are currently present in the D-max could make their way into the mu-X.
While not much else is known about the next generation midsize SUV, it looks as though Isuzu did a thorough make over of the vehicle. The images showcase a familiar shape, however, it has been retooled to look more updated. It seems as though the mu-X will be getting a revised grille section with fanged slats as well as a redesigned front bumper. New fog light housings also appear to be present in the second generation of the vehicle. A new skid plate as well as a new lower inlet are also present in the new design.

Moving onto the side of the vehicle and it now comes with a larger greenhouse allowing for better visibility. Also present along the side profile of the mu-X is a new garnished window line, along with a new rising beltline, to give it a more muscular profile.

Heading over to the rear and it appears not much as changed. It still follows the same simple design of the current generation, however, the LED tail light housings have been revised slightly. Also present at the rear of the second generation mu-X is a new set of fog lamp housings and a new chrome embellishment.
As far as the interior is concerned, not much information has been released, however, we suspect it will look similar to the current generation of the Isuzu D-max. That being said its large infotainment system along with its modern dashboard design should make its way into the cabin of its SUV stablemate.
While there is no official news yet as to when the second generation Isuzu mu-X will be making its way into the market, our best guess puts it’s official launch in 2021 or in early 2022.
