Hino Motor Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, handed over its modern PUVs to Pateros-Fort Bonifacio Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TSMC) and Taguig Transport Service (TSC).
The two cooperatives were chosen by the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) because of their good standing, financial capability, and established management structure, making them the first groups to experience the innovative result of the PUV Modernization program (PUVMP).
The turnover of Hino’s first batch of Class 2, four-wheeler AC units is the Japanese marque’s response to administration’s PUVMP for a better transportation system in the country. This Euro 4-powered jeepney is capable of delivering a more efficient engine, while adopting the green technology to reduce harmful emissions. To show their support to the said program, Hino will give 137 units to Pateros-Fort TSMC, while Taguig TSC will receive 279 units.
Hino’s modern PUVs conform to the requirements indicated by the Bureau of Philippine Standards. The Class 2 Hino jeepney comes with seatbelts and perimeter seats that can accommodate 23 passengers comfortably. Once all seats are occupied, other passengers can stand inside this new vehicle. With its minibus-like features, it can haul more passengers than the usual jeepney capacity.
No need to cram just to find enough coins in your pocket as this air conditioned jeepney will use the Beep Card payment system. For the safety and convenience of the passengers, this Hino vehicle is also equipped with a speed limiter, GPS, CCTV, and a dashboard-mounted camera.
These upgraded vehicle units will soon roam in Gate 3 of Fort Bonifacio to Guadalupe Market and Bagumbayan, Taguig to Pasig. So if you reside near these routes, well, lucky you.
