Coming after the launch of an all-new Honda City is a hatch counterpart which is said to be the successor of the renowned Honda Jazz in select markets. The Honda City Hatch was recently revealed in Thailand, with it retaining similar design cues from its sedan counterpart. Now, like its 4-door brother, the subcompact’s hatch version is made available with an optional Modulo kit, that enhances the overall aesthetics of the car.
Worth noting though is that this makeover kit shares a few commonalities with the optional one on the City 4-door, as its front chin and side skirts appear to be similar, plus, the window visors are also available on the 5-door as well. The rest of the package, on the other hand, remains unique to the hatch.
Now, we do agree that the design on the wheels is indeed similar to the sedan’s Modulo kit, however, there’s a unique touch on the hatch, and that’s the special highlight which is found on each rim. For further customization, the customers can choose between a red or blue highlight.
Given that this is a hatch, the unique look then dominates at the rear. The standard spoiler is then enhanced with some extenders, therefore, giving the boot a lower illusion. Likewise, this is only an aesthetic package, therefore, it only enhances the overall looks and not the mechanicals. Perhaps, this upcoming hatch might also carry the same 1.5-liter motor from its sedan counterpart, or who knows? Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) might just bring in the 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 120hp and 173 Nm of torque.
The Honda City hatch is indeed an exciting product from the Japanese marquee. Perhaps, much love and acceptance shall rain once this model makes its way to the Philippine market. Like the current City Sedan, the Modulo package is also expected to be available here once HCPI finally brings in this sweet 5-door.
