Honda’s iconic compact hatchback is ready to take over the road this 2019 with its new updates on both the Civic and the Type R models, which can further cement its position in the market.
The Japanese brand’s good-looking dudes feature an updated display audio system that comes with additional physical buttons and intuitive knobs for better control, as well as an upgraded Bluetooth connectivity and voice control function.
Apart from that, the steering wheel buttons have also been simplified for easier operation and its electronic parking brake glows a light when activated. Fan speed of the dual-zone automatic air conditioning system can be controlled using its enhanced physical buttons, while larger cupholders are also available for additional convenience. Using gadgets for entertainment and accessibility won’t be much of a problem as this hot hatch now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on upper variants.
Another thing to take note is that the Type R is up with new Sonic Gray Pearl exterior color. In terms of engine, the record-breaker Civic Type R is still powered with the same 2.0L turbocharged engine that squeezes out 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This powertrain is then coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox, complemented with automatic rev matching. With all of these interior updates, the price is now up to MSRP of around P1,899,000 ($37,550) in the U.S.
The Civic Hatchback, on the other hand, gives customers a wide array of variants including LX, Sport, EX, EX-L with navigation, and Sport Touring trims. For an enhanced safety driving, Honda integrated these variants with the brand’s advanced safety package known as the Honda Sensing System. This technology is packed with reliable assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. We have yet to get the hatchback here, though, but who knows, we might get it sooner than later.
The 2019 Civic and Civic Type R models are already up for grabs in the U.S. Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has managed to bring the fifth-generation Civic Type R in the country, so it can somehow give us hope that this too would arrive in the Philippine shores, right? Well, you have nothing to lose if you’re going to save up and ready your bank accounts, just in case.
