Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled initial details about its first smart urban mobility hub, the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS). This cutting-edge facility, situated in Singapore, is poised to revolutionize the landscape of mobility production and elevate customer experience standards. Opening its doors on November 21, 2023, the HMGICS is a tangible manifestation of the Hyundai Group’s commitment to advancing progress for humanity.
Embodying the Hyundai Group’s vision for progress, the HMGICS represents a groundbreaking integration of human and robotic processes, setting a new standard for innovation. In line with Hyundai Motor Group's dedication to pushing the boundaries of technological advancement, this newly constructed facility in Singapore will function as a testbed for intelligent automotive manufacturing technology that prioritizes a human-centric approach. Moving away from traditional conveyor belt manufacturing, the HMGICS will leverage advanced, next-generation production methods to usher in a new era of automotive manufacturing.
As Hyundai refines its strategies for production, sustainability, and customer experience, the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore is set to bolster Singapore's standing as a frontrunner in the emerging era of future mobility. With a dedicated emphasis on sustainable and transformative solutions, HMGICS aligns with Singapore's smart city ecosystem. This decision to integrate Singapore’s vision for its cities reinforces the shared vision between Hyundai and Singapore to forge a better and more sustainable future for all.

According to Hyundai, around 50 percent of tasks are executed by a total of 200 robots, showcasing an unprecedented level of collaboration between humans, robotics, and AI systems. Robots handle assembly, inspection, and organization of the production facility, managing over 60 percent of component process management, ordering, and transportation. This liberation of humans from repetitive and labor-intensive tasks allows them to concentrate on more creative and productive responsibilities.
In addition, Alpesh Patel, Vice President and Head of the Technology Innovation Group at HMGICS says the smaller footprint of facilities like HMGICS facilitates proper integration into local communities, especially in urban areas constrained by limited space. The facility held its grand opening a few days ago on November 21, 2023, with the doors to Hyundai’s extremely advanced facility opening to the public shortly after.
