Following a successful debut at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has revealed the specifications and pricing information for the highly anticipated IONIQ 6 for the Philippine market. Along with the price reveal, Hyundai has opened the reservation books for its new EV starting this June 26, 2023.
Serving as the brand’s newest EV offering following the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 6 is the manifestation of Hyundai's vision of a stylish and dynamic four-door electric sedan. In the Philippine market, it will be exclusively offered in a single variant, namely the GLS 2WD Long Range.
If you’re only seeing the IONIQ 6 for the first time, allow us to fill you in. The IONIQ 6 showcases a striking and visionary exterior that incorporates inspiration from the 1920s and 1930s. This intriguing revelation was shared by SangYup Lee, Hyundai's Vice President of Styling, who highlighted the significant influence of iconic design elements from that era in shaping the distinctive character of the Ioniq 6. A point that was shared by SangYup Lee, Hyundai's Vice President of Styling who says those decades were a major influence on the looks of the IONIQ 6.
Propelling the Ioniq 6 is a sole permanent magnetic synchronous motor, responsible for generating an impressive output of 226 hp and 350 Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the rear wheels. Equipped with a robust 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, this electric vehicle can achieve an estimated range of 545 km of cruising. Moreover, the Ioniq 6 supports DC fast charging, enabling a swift recharge from ten to 80 percent capacity in just 18 minutes, a charging time so quick it might be able to convert some EV skeptics.
As for the interior, the Ioniq 6 is equipped with state-of-the-art technology as befits a new-age car. First off, the interior features a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a seamlessly integrated 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, combined into a unified display. To enhance the user experience, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is incorporated, incorporating interactive LED lighting themes that can be personalized to create unique and engaging journeys for both the driver and passengers. Other interior features include wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a Bose sound system, a wireless charging pad, leather upholstery, power-folding side mirrors, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
In terms of safety features, the IONIQ 6 is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense technology. Within this suite of safety features is the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, which is designed to detect potential hazards ahead and actively intervene in critical situations. This intelligent system not only alerts the driver but also provides automatic assistance by applying emergency braking or assisting with avoidance steering when necessary, ensuring enhanced safety on the road. Other intelligent driver aids include; smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, parking distance warning, reverse parking collision avoidance assist, high-beam assist, a surround-view monitor, and rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, and blind-spot collision warning with blind-spot collision avoidance.
Hyundai is offering the IONIQ 6 in a range of eight colors. These include Abyss Black Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Digital Green Pearl, Gravity Gold Matte, Nocturne Gray Matte, Serenity White Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic.
