Mazda new infotainment

Mazda has finally decided to modernize the infotainment systems in its 2 and CX-3 models, a move long-awaited by fans and enthusiasts. These two vehicles have been stuck with outdated infotainment setups for quite some time, making this revamp a welcome change. The new 8.8-inch infotainment system is a significant leap forward, providing a range of connected services to enhance the driving experience. However, it's important to note that this new system still retains the form of a tablet perched on the dashboard rather than being seamlessly integrated, which might be a point of contention for some.

Mazda new infotainment

The rollout of this infotainment upgrade is currently limited to the 2024 model year for these vehicles in Japan, but there is hope that it will be extended to global markets. This move was long overdue as the 2 and CX-3 were among the last Mazda models clinging to the previous-generation infotainment systems. Surprisingly, even the more upscale Mazda6 midsize sedan/wagon and the iconic MX-5 roadster continue to use the old setup. Rumors have been swirling about an impending facelift for the rear-wheel-drive MX-5, known as the ND3, which might finally bring it up to date with this 8.8-inch multimedia display, but no official confirmation has been made as of now.

Mazda2

In the case of the 2024 Mazda2, it's worth noting that this model has just recently undergone a refresh for the Philippine lineup but still retains the old seven-inch infotainment display. Despite its age, the Mazda2 is set to stick around for a while, and this infotainment upgrade will likely breathe new life into it for a future update, especially as it approaches its 10th anniversary next year. Alongside the infotainment update, the Mazda2 will also receive some distinctive design accents.

Mazda CX-3

The CX-3, introduced in 2014, is another model getting this much-needed infotainment facelift. Although Mazda USA discontinued the CX-3 after the 2021 model year, it's still available in select markets, including the Philippines. In Japan, the updated CX-3 will offer a Vivid Monotone special edition with cosmetic enhancements and an improved version of the 1.8-liter diesel engine.

For Mazda enthusiasts in Japan, the wait for these updated models won't be too long. The Mazda2 is set to go on sale in late December, while the CX-3 will follow suit in February 2024. Customers will have the choice of gasoline or diesel engines, manual or automatic transmissions, and the option of front- or all-wheel drive, ensuring there's a configuration to suit various preferences and driving needs. For us in the Philippines, it could still be some time until we see these new infotainment systems grace our local lineup.
