If you’ve ever wanted an even smaller CX-5 or even a Mazda3 crossover Mazda Philippines has got you covered. The Japanese automaker will be bringing in the CX-30 into the country in the month of November. No exact dates were mentioned, but it should launch soon.
The CX-30 is a compact crossover that looks like a cross between a Mazda3 and CX-5. it has the crossover ride height similar to that of its bigger brother the CX-5 but it retains the interior bits of the Mazda3. With its size and features in other countries, it is set to go up against the likes of the Honda HR-V and the Suzuki Vitara. If Mazda Philippines prices it right it could do well against its competitors.

The CX-30 is based on the Mazda3 and is essentially a lifted version of it. It shares the same design language as the current generation 3. The same can be said for the vehicle’s interior as it shares parts from the Mazda3 sedan and hatch counterparts. It also gets the benefit of sharing the same engine and transmission options as well.
A lot about the Philippine-spec vehicle is still unknown. But in other countries, the vehicle already has the SkyActiv-X engine. The newly-minted SkyActiv engine, that’s supposed to be powering the ‘3’ as well, uses Spark-Controlled Compression Ignition technology in order to save fuel while still delivering power. The system utilizes technology from both diesel and gasoline engines. It’s an engine that gives you the fuel efficiency figures of diesel while also granting you the refinement of a gasoline power plant.
In the spiriting of cleaner and greener power sources, Mazda Philippines could also bring in the CX-30 with its small hybrid system. Dubbed the M System by Mazda it uses a small battery with a capacity of 600 KJ. This would technically qualify the vehicle as a mild hybrid. While the battery is smaller than that of a regular hybrid it still retains the benefits.
Mazda Philippines has done well to keep the vehicle under wraps as there are no official figures out yet for the local market. But we will keep you updated as we get more information about this possibly game-changing crossover.
