Geely Philippines is staying true to its word that it will be launching a new model every six months with its recent addition, the Azkarra. The compact crossover comes in two variants. The first comes with a turbocharged gasoline engine that sends its power exclusively to the front wheels, while the other is an all-wheel-drive variant with a mild hybrid system. Geely has globally been pushing for cleaner vehicles and this its move to promote hybrid and electric drivetrains in the Philippines. Here is a quick rundown of what you need to know about the 2020 Geely Azkarra.
Exterior
On the outside, the Geely Azkarra shares much in the same design language as its Coolray little brother. At the front, it comes with an imposing fascia and the brand’s signature expanding cosmos grille. Flanking either side is a set of LED lights that come with daytime running lights. Absent front of the vehicle is foglights. Judging from their absence one can assume that the LED lights are powerful enough to light the way even when visibility gets low. Other exterior features of the vehicle include a 360-degree camera similar to that of the Coolray, a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in 225/60 tires, and a set of LED lights at the rear.
Interior and Technology
Moving on to the inside. There are currently two material options for the Azkarra. The entry-level variant comes with PVC material, while the top-of-the-line gets Nappa leather. Standard features for the interior include 6-way power-adjustable seats for the driver, dual-zone climate controls, wireless charging for the range-topping variant, and a 12.3-inch CSD screen with a 720p resolution that comes with mirror linking. Sound for the vehicle is sent through an 8-speaker system.
Variants and power
The Geely Azkarra currently comes in two variants, Premium and Luxury. The Premium variant gets the same 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine found in the Coolray and pushes out 177hp and 255 Nm of torque. The Luxury variant, on the other hand, gets the same engine but up-rated figures thanks to the addition of a hybrid system and all-wheel-drive. The range-topping variant pushes out 190hp and 300 Nm of torque thanks to its hybrid system. Both variants are available only with a 7-speed wet DCT.
Pricing
The Geely Azkarra can be had for as low as P1,438,000 for the front-wheel-drive Premium variant. The Luxury all-wheel-drive mild-hybrid variant, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of P1,598,000.
