MINI Clubman ends production, moving MINI towards a future of electric cars.

The final bow has been made. After being around for 55 years, the MINI Clubman, a car famous for its rear split doors, has stopped being made with the last of the Clubman cars that came off the assembly line in Oxford, UK, on February 5, 2024.

Now, don't fret just yet! The end of production for MINI Clubman may possibly imply the coming change for MINI as they start to produce and work on electric cars.

The Clubman first appeared in 1969 and was known for its longer body and special back doors. The MINI Clubman took a break from production in 1982 and returned in 2007 under BMW's ownership, keeping its signature back doors, which were a challenge to design since Clubman's doors had to work well in different weather conditions and not hide the rear lights.

In spite of its "mini" appearance, the MINI Clubman had five seats, with easy access thanks to a rear-hinged Clubdoor on one side of the car. The car also had new features like an electric parking brake, full electric seat adjustment, and the first all-wheel-drive model from MINI, the Clubman All-4.

The final model, The Final Edition, was a tribute to the Clubman's legacy, limited to 1,969 units to commemorate its launch year. For these special editions, the cars had special design elements, including a Shimmer Copper radiator grille and 18" two-tone alloy wheels.

The Philippines, one of 50 countries to receive the Clubman, now witnesses the end of an era. However, MINI promises exciting plans for the brand ahead. As reported by Car Spirit PK, Dr. Markus Grüneisl, CEO of Plants Oxford and Swindon, expressed pride in building the MINI Clubman for global customers.

And here's the exciting part: the CEO hinted at the arrival of new MINI models, including a convertible set to start production by the end of the year! So, it's not really a goodbye to the Clubman, but more of a 'see you later.' While the Clubman was popular, MINI is preparing for the future with electric vehicles.
