While we are in much anticipation of the upcoming launch of the refreshed Hilux, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) might be getting ready to launch another new vehicle in the coming months. Top Gear Philippines has recently released a photo from a reader showing a fleet of facelifted Fortuner being carried by a trailer truck. The following units were spotted somewhere in Batangas by Judiel Rei Umahon Aguilon who was able to take a photo of the vehicles.
One of the key distinctions of this new model was the grille, which was immediately noticeable on the image taken. However, we did notice that the much awaited Legender was not present in the photo of the shipment of vehicles. Despite that, we’re still keeping our hopes high that TMP will offer it as the top-of-the-line trim of the Fortuner range.
This now raises the question as to when Toyota Philippine will be planning to unveil the refreshed and much-anticipated SUV to the local automotive market. Since the upcoming digital launch event of the refreshed Hilux is slated on September 12, TMP might also consider showcasing the facelifted Fortuner as well. If this doesn’t hold true then the refresh 2021 Toyota Fortuner could be scheduled for a different date sometime in the coming months. With the Japanese brand’s recent success we estimate that it will make its debut sometime between October to December right in time for the Christmas rush.
In Thailand, apart from the redesigned exterior and interior, the refreshed Toyota Fortuner also gets an upgraded 2.8-liter diesel engine option, which now produces a mightier 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Apart from that, safety has also been boosted for the midsize SUV, with the Legender trim now having the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver-assist features. Let’s hope that TMP will also feed us those equally-matched specifications.
Indeed, the facelifted Toyota Fortuner is one compelling product of the brand. Cross fingers that its previous sighting signifies an immediate launch. It would definitely be great if this midsize SUV will be previewed during the Hilux launch.
