Images of the new Mazda CX-5 were uploaded by Autospy.net. While only the exterior of the compact crossover was showcased on the images, it showed subtle changes done to the crossover compared to its outgoing model.

On the outside, the CX-5 still features Mazda’s KODO Soul of Motion design language that has been enhanced to keep it in line with the newer models in its lineup. Upfront, the compact crossover flaunts its mean-looking fascia complemented with a pair of new headlights, a revised grille, and a new bumper that doesn’t have fog light housings, a design element that’s reminiscent of the Mazda 3.
The side profile still sports a familiar layout, you still get those well-pronounced character lines along with the generous application of black cladding. What’s new for the upcoming model are the wheel options, presumably, both newly designed two-tone and single-tone alloy wheels retained the same dimensions. Therefore, higher trims could still have 19-inch alloys wrapped in 225/55 tires, while the lower variants are to equipped with 17-inch alloys wrapped in 225/65 tires.

Lastly, the rear also gets a few revisions, including the lighting system which somewhat resembles the one found on the CX-3, along with a new bumper. Unfortunately, there were no interior photos provided, though Mazda could add more standard goodies to the already well-equipped model.
Also, the Japanese automaker might as well retain the same powertrain options granted that this is just a refreshed model. Meaning, Mazda could still offer the same 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G engines along with the 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D engine. Who knows? Mazda Philippines might even consider bringing in the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G turbo if ever the new model enters the local market.
For now, we’re a bit scarce on details, though it seems that the brand wants its compact crossover to stay competitive in its segment. We shall uncover more information soon, so keep your eyes peeled for some updates.
