The Nissan Hardbody was the pickup that put Nissan on the map in the compact pickup truck segment way back in the 1980s. Now, the Japanese brand is paying tribute to the great hardbody with a nostalgic body package for the 2024 Nissan Frontier. The Frontier is the brand’s compact pickup truck offering for North America much like the Navara sold here in the Philippines.
The 2024 Frontier Hardbody Edition is built upon the foundation of the well-appointed Crew Cab SV 4x4 model. Instantly demanding one’s attention with its contemporary take on design elements inspired by its heritage.
The retro-styling begins with the three-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, which serve as a tribute to the original Hardbody's appearance. These brawny wheels are wrapped in all-terrain tires further complementing the truck’s outdoor-oriented look as well as its capability. To further enhance its rugged and vintage appeal, the vehicle sports an aluminum skid plate, black over-fenders, a black side rail, mud flaps, a bed-mounted bar, and black wing mirrors.
"We took some of those design elements and modernized them. Even if you don't recognize or remember the original Hardbody, you're still going to say, 'That's a cool truck.'"
Despite the retro looks, the 2024 Nissan Frontier is a modern car underneath the black trim pieces and decals. The pickup truck comes equipped with a range of sophisticated features, including heated leather front seats, daytime running lights, an electric sunroof, remote engine start, and dual-zone climate control, all of which are standard on the SL variant.
Gadget connectivity includes the Nissan Connect companion app, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. All of these features can be conveniently managed via a seven-inch touchscreen display.
The 2024 Frontier is powered by a 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine that generates 310 horsepower mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. For customers that choose the PRO-4X variant, their truck will get four-wheel drive, off-road shocks by Bilstein, hill-descent control, and an electronic locking rear diff.
As for pricing, the 2024 Frontier Hardbody Edition and the SL variant have a suggested retail price in the US of $29,770 USD or around P1,69 million PHP when converted to Philippine pesos. Tax is not included of course.
