Nissan has a new challenger to the competitive pickup truck segment in the country, the all-new NP300 Navara. Boasting a tougher body and smarter features, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) is confident that it’ll be a key player that will challenge the segment.
“Everyday at Nissan, we challenge ourselves with possibility to make good products, even better. Trucks are definitely tough, that is a given, but what sets us apart, is that we redefined Tough and we equipped it with innovation that makes it Smart. The all-new NP300 Navara is the truck that will make you proud no matter what the situation, be it a rough road drive or a relaxed cruise in the city,” proclaimed NPI President and Managing Director Antonio Zara.
The all-new NP300 Navara’s styling was sculpted to evoke an aura of modern masculinity. This new design DNA is what Nissan refers to as their “V-Motion” motif, which starts from the grille and flows through the hood and on to the fenders. A set of boomerang-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL) accentuates the overall look of the front fascia.
Giving integrity to this styling is a full-length, fully-boxed ladder frame, which adds torsional stiffness and enhances durability. A rigid 5-link coil suspension with stabilizer bars give the NP300 Navara a smooth, comfortable, and effortless drive on or off the road.
Under the hood is a new generation 2.5L inline 4-cylinder DOHC diesel engine with Variable Geometric System (VGS), mounted with either a 6-speed MT or 7-speed sport AT. The all-new NP300 Navara is available in seven variants, three of which are 4x4’s with shift-on-the-fly features.
Inside the cabin, the gentle sweep from the centre panel, which flows to the door side with 3-dimentional rich sections gives it a sense of spaciousness. Along the dash are functional trays for small items and mobile gadgets. For the driver, vehicle orientation starts with easy-to-read gauges and instrumentation via the Fine Vision Technology. Integrated on the steering wheel are controls for audio and connectivity, as well as cruise control.
All variants of the NP300 Navara comes with a 6-speaker CD/MP3/iPod compatible audio system. But only the top of the line 2.5L 4x4 VL version is equipped with a 5.0-inch infotainment system. It also doubles as a monitor for the rear camera when backing up.
Other features include push-button ignition, NASA-inspired Zero-Gravity seats, the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system along with ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip), HSA (Hill Start Assist), and HDC (Hill Descent Control), and Traction Control System.
The all-new Nissan NP300 Navara is now on sale at its introductory price set at P1,490,000 for the 4x4 VL 7-Speed, P1,421,000 for 4x4 VL 6-speed M/T, P1,256,000 for 4x4 EL 6-speed M/T, P1,108,000 for 4x2 EL 7-speed A/T Calibre, P1,038,000 for 4x2 EL 6-speed M/T Calibre, P938,000 for 4x2 6-speed M/T Calibre, and P898,000 for the 4x2 6-Speed M/T.
