Nissan

For the 2nd time, Nissan is sponsoring the 40th Annual Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) happening in Austin, Texas. This is in partnership with the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA), which they intend to expand further towards the end of 2016.

The NAGAAA is a non-profit international sports organization that was created in 1977 after the first Gay Softball World Series. It’s dedicated to promote amateur athletics for the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer) community.

They are expecting 5,000 athletes, coaches, and fans in the 6 days of the event that will happen until August 20, 2016. More than 185 teams from 43 cities in the United States and Canada will be participating in the activities, which includes multi-division tournament and community events.

Pride is about bringing our community together. So, we're thrilled that we can extend our partnership with Nissan to work more closely with our local gay leagues as well as celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gay Softball World Series together in Austin," said Chris Balton, commissioner of NAGAAA.

The 2016 Maxima (not available locally), will also be showcased at the series, which got a Top Safety Pick Plus from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It also got a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention for models that are equipped with Forward Emergency Braking.

In line to this, local NAGAAA softball leagues at LGBTQ and Pride events will also be sponsored by Nissan, which includes Long Beach Pride, L.A. Pride, Capital Pride, Nashville Pride, San Francisco Pride, New York City Pride, Atlanta Pride and Orlando Pride, as well as Northalsted Market Days in Chicago.

The company’s LGBTQ outreach efforts is backed up by the Nissan Gay Straight Alliance Network (GSAN). Inclusive benefits and Championing Diversity workshops are offered in the company, including a “Diversity and Inclusion” team that advocates culture of equality in the workplace.

Erich Marx, marketing director and executive sponsor of GSAN, said that their LGBTQ outreach helps them attract new customers and potential employees. He also sees the GSWS as a chance for them to be involved in the community, presenting a compelling and personalized experience with their vehicles and brand.
