We're getting a new glimpse every week. Nissan is counting down to the release of its new SUV, the Patrol Y63, with the big reveal planned for September 4.
Each week leading up to the launch, Nissan is giving us a peek at the SUV’s new features, showing off bits and pieces through their website, which keeps fans and potential buyers excited, revealing new details like the grille and lights bit by bit. The anticipation builds as each Thursday brings a new feature to the public, such as its modern grille to its sleek taillights, Nissan is showcasing the Patrol’s latest upgrades. Developed to go head-to-head with the Toyota Land Cruiser, the new Patrol is preparing to be a strong contender in the large SUV market, keeping the classic Patrol while adding modern touches that new buyers will appreciate.
Big changes are happening under the hood too. The Y63 model is switching from the older V8 to a newer, more efficient twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. So, the SUV will both be better on gas and also quicker and more powerful. Nissan is pairing this new engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission, making the ride smoother and more responsive than before. On the outside, the front end features a new "V-motion" grille with a neat honeycomb pattern behind vertical chrome bars. At the back, the new taillights are stacked vertically, connected by horizontal LED bars that stretch towards the Nissan logo, setting it apart from its luxury relative, the Infiniti QX80, even though both share the same basic frame.

With the current Patrol model having been around since 2010, this next-generation Patrol is arriving just in time to add some new life to Nissan’s SUV lineup. Nissan’s leaders are confident that this new Patrol will not just match but exceed the performance and appeal of its main rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser J300. September 4 is almost here, and Nissan is keeping us engaged by slowly showing us the new Patrol Y63 each week. While waiting, take a moment to browse Nissan’s current vehicle options on AutoDeal, where you can conveniently get a quote with just one click.
