A new NISMO model is going to debut on August 8, 2023, and based on the time of publishing this article, that’s tomorrow!
Another exciting model from the Japanese brand will debut tomorrow at 10:30 AM via a live stream on the brand’s YouTube channel. As for the teaser image, we were only given an outline of the car that Nissan will be unveiling. As such, we’ve got a pretty obvious guess that we can also confirm based on some of our interactions with a number of Nissan executives.
The NISMO Z was already unveiled prior to this teaser image, so what could it be? Currently, NISMO’s lineup includes the GT-R, the LEAF, Note Aura, and the Z, so another model will be given the NISMO treatment, but what exactly is it?
Based on the teaser image, and the outline that Nissan presented, we see a long hood, and a fastback roofline, although the rear end of the outline is cut, adding a little more mystery as to what is launching. Could it be a Sentra or Altima? Or perhaps even the Versa—otherwise known as the Almera here in the Philippines. At this point, we’re quite sure that it is going to be a sedan-like model, but we could definitely be wrong.
Apart from that, another guess according to sources is a hybrid sportscar that Nissan has been working on, but there has been little to no noise about the project, so that guess may be unlikely.
Furthermore, Nissan’s executives have also expressed their desire to create an electric sportscar with solid-state batteries. However, given the current state of solid-state technology, we’re not expecting a model and platform for that concept anytime soon.
If you cannot read Japanese, don’t worry, we got you covered. The text at the bottom of the teaser image reads “8/8 10:30 New model released.” We assume that the unveiling is set in Japan’s time zone, so translating that over to Philippine time, we can expect the live stream to begin at 9:30 AM, August 8, 2023.
Place your bets now, but be prepared to get shocked in a manner of speaking. We’re not sure what Nissan will unveil so your guess is as good as ours.
