As the launch date approaches, the upcoming brand OMODA is aiming to become one of the leading brands in the Philippines when it comes to offering a full range of New Energy vehicles. Apart from the standard OMODA 5 and the JAECOO 7 coming in, the OMODA 5 Electric Vehicle (EV) will also be another debutant towards the end of the year.
Keeping in line with its youthful and tech-savvy theme, the OMODA 5 EV will come packed with advanced features. Imagine a 16-function ADAS System that includes features like Front Collision Avoidance, Front Departure Reminder, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Driver Monitoring System, just to name a few. It will also have a 360-Degree view camera and a Heads Up Display, both projected through two 10.25-inch screens on the dashboard.
The driver and passenger seats will be adjustable with power controls, six-way for the driver and four-way for the passenger, and they will even have seat heating and ventilation functions. The OMODA 5 EV will also come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Each passenger will have the convenience of a one-touch auto function for all the windows, while the driver will have additional features like remote start, keyless entry, and remote control for the air conditioning—all accessible with a simple button press on the keyfob. And let's not forget about the eight-speaker Sony Sound System, three High-Speed USB Ports, two power outlets, and a wireless charging pad for mobile phones inside the cabin.
Powering the OMODA 5 EV will be a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a liquid-cooled system, delivering an estimated power output of 150kW and around 400 Nm of torque. When fully charged, the vehicle will have a range of 300 to 450 kilometers. The car will come with an AC/DC charging module and a portable 220v charger.
Lastly, the OMODA 5 EV has achieved an impressive five-star rating in its most recent EURO-NCAP test, highlighting the brand's commitment to safety. Combined with its numerous active and passive safety features, the OMODA 5 EV provides its users with complete peace of mind.
The pricing for the OMODA 5 EV is yet to be announced but is expected to be highly competitive due to the government's tax exemption program for Electric Vehicles. Additionally, the OMODA 5 EV will be exempt from the number coding scheme, thanks to the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) under Republic Act 11697. The OMODA 5 EV is scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year, coinciding with the launch of the OMODA and JAECOO brands.
