Peugeot seems to be excited to present to the world the new look of the 3008 SUV as they have released a full set of images of the SUV’s exterior. Jumping the gun before the compact crossover officially launches on September 12, 2023. Taking a look at the new e-3008, we can understand why Peugeot would be excited to unveil its new design because it is quite a looker from all angles.
The Peugeot e-3008 will also be the first production model to feature the latest version of the i-Cockpit technology. More on that as we go along, but for now, let’s talk about the e-3008’s exterior.
Starting with the front bumper, the e-3008 definitely has remnants of the outgoing 3008’s exterior design. It features slim headlights perched high on the bumper with three daytime running lights (DRL) running vertically below it, reminiscent of the slices on the bumper below the older 3008’s headlights.
The DRLs complement the car’s new grille which blends and fades into the bumper. The brand’s name is emblazoned high up on the bumper while underneath sits the recently redesigned Peugeot logo. When viewed from the rear, the E-3008 has a much edgier appearance, highlighted by a robust bumper beneath a slender, full-width taillight. Unique creases in the sheet metal extend from the outer corners of the bumper to the liftgate glass, adding a distinctive touch to its overall design.
Up top, the e-3008 sports a black finish on both the roof and pillars, featuring a chrome accent that draws attention to its aerodynamic roofline, a central styling feature of the new generation that leads to the rear end. Peugeot refers to it as a "fastback SUV," inspired by the larger and longer 408 crossover.
Moving inside, the e-3008 features Peugeot’s next-generation i-Cockpit technology. The highlight of this new design is the cutting-edge 21-inch curved panoramic display which integrates the digital instrument cluster, the head-up display, and the touchscreen into one screen. Complementing this setup is a secondary touchscreen on the center console, equipped with configurable "i-Toggles" shortcuts.
As for the crossover’s powertrain options, details for the all-electric E-3008 are not yet available. The E-3008 is anticipated to offer three all-electric powertrain options and will ride on the brand’s all-new STLA-medium platform. Additionally, a dual-motor configuration will be available, providing the vehicle with all-wheel drive capability.
In addition to the electric variants, Peugeot will also provide the crossover with a mild-hybrid powertrain option. This configuration combines a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with electric assistance, resulting in a combined output of 134 hp and 230 Nm of torque. A newly designed six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission incorporates the electric motor and inverter, contributing an additional 28 hp and 41 Nm of torque to the system.
Peugeot will be revealing the e-3008 in France at 12:30 PM on September 12, 2023. The 3008’s bigger brother, the 5008 will also be replaced soon, however, definitive dates for when it will launch aren’t out yet.
