Since 2017, Mazda has been feeding the world with bits of teasers for the upcoming, all-new ‘3’. First, the company revealed the SkyActiv X technology – a revolutionary science in gasoline engines that uses Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI), which uses compression combustion and spark-plug ignition at the same time. Upon introduction of the said technology, reports came out that it will be used in the upcoming Mazda3. It wasn’t actually a far-fetched rumor, as SkyActiv X-powered prototypes this year turned out to be modified Mazda3 hatchbacks.
Mazda also revealed the Kai Concept during the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It was one of the most beautiful cars during the show, and it’s like a spruced-up Mazda3 by size and by styling. With this, it was believed that the Kai Concept is a preview of the upcoming Mazda3.
Well, Mazda released a teaser video of an upcoming model. Although it wasn’t indicated in the video, all the signs tell us that it certainly is. Watch:
Yes, yes, the video is really short, but it tells us many things about the supposed 2019 Mazda3. The C-pillar closely resembles the Kai Concept’s. Although a bit more prominent than what the Kai Concept had, the side character lines that extend from bonnet up to the rear is an indication of the same sultry design.
But here’s the most important bit – by the end of the video, this phrase was displayed: A New Era Begins November 2018. Aside from the obvious info that the revamped Mazda3 will be revealed next month, this tells us that the compact car will house a revolutionary feat. Could this mean that the SkyActiv X technology will be revealed with the Mazda3? If it does, it will definitely be a new era for gasoline power plants, and we couldn’t be any more excited about it.
