The Toyota RAV4’s getting a little aftermarket treatment for the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon this year (TAS 2023). The Japanese brand will be showcasing three different flavors of its plug-in hybrid compact crossover at this year’s show, with three different types of customization packages, namely Adventure, Offroad, and Sporty.
As per Toyota’s press release, the three RAV4s will all be plug-in hybrid models that will be customized to showcase the versatility of the model on and off the beaten path. The organizers that are heading the Toyota booth at TAS 2023 have “carefully [selected] and [combined] the best parts for each concept to create a special model not found in the catalog [of the RAV4]. The exhibition is meant to excite and inspire ideas of customization and excite current and potential owners of the RAV4 PHEV.
For the adventurer, the PHEV-Adventure model has a different bumper compared to stock, which is reminiscent of the Toyota Hilux and has an outgoing charm to it. Painted in a beige sand colorway, the model looks like it's ready to tackle a few light trails and go for a long drive to wherever.
Meanwhile, the PHEV-Offroad package takes a more extreme approach to customization with Toyota fitting things like a roof rack, a jerry can, the adventure bumper with extra auxiliary lights, body cladding, and off-road specific wheels and tires that give the RAV4 PHEV a look that is ready to tackle trails and mud.
For the road-goers in the show, the RAV4 PHEV Sporty package includes additional styling enhancements in the form of body kits that enhance the model’s road-going presence and character.
TAS 2023 starts on Friday, January 13, 2023, and it will be open to the public at 2:00 PM and span three days in total. On the second and third days, the exhibit will be open to the public at 9:00 AM. It will be a weekend filled with aftermarket goodies and tuning bits for enthusiasts, as well as a few other enthusiast-specific models that brands desire to showcase to the public. More to come as more press releases are sent, and more coverage to come on the opening day of TAS 2023.
