Ford Philippines recently held an online press conference with members of the media to celebrate the launch of their refreshed Ford Ranger lineup. Titled “Ranger Life Campaign Part 1” the updated model reveal hinted that the Blue Oval had more in store in the coming months. The automaker even confirmed that a “Part 2” of the event will happen sometime in March of this year.
When asked about what the second part of the event could be about, Ford declined to give a specific answer only mentioning that they have something planned for the Ranger and that a more utility-focused variant could be in the works. They also further hinted that more surprises are in store which isn’t focused on their popular pickup truck.
It is important to remember that the Ranger was able to take the second spot as one of the top-selling pickup trucks in the country in 2020. A more utilitarian model could help the automaker increase its sales for 2021, and tap into the fleet market that Toyota has a strong presence in. With that in mind, here are our guesses as to what Ford could have in store in the coming months.
A more utilitarian Ranger
One of the possibilities that Ford Philippines could do with its Ranger lineup is to add a new single-cab or fleet-specific variant. The automaker’s popular pickup truck already has 13 different models available in the country, with each one catering to a specific niche. Adding a new body style into the mix which focuses more on the utility market could lead to more sales for the Blue Oval brand.
Refreshed Everest
Another possibility, while not related to the Ranger, is the launch of the refreshed Ford Everest. The diesel-fed 7-seater SUV has already made its debut in Thailand coming with an updated exterior look. Most notably, the refreshed Everest now comes with a new grille and additional chrome trimmings all around. As the SUV is a popular vehicle in the Philippines, giving it a refresh could prove to be a good move to attract more buyers.
More variants of the Ford Territory
Ford may also have something planned for the newest member in the lineup, the Ford Territory. The small crossover, since its launch, has already proven to be a hit with the public thanks to its feature-rich variants as well as its attractive price point. The automaker could make the vehicle even more enticing by adding more affordable variants into the mix, making it more accessible by a wider customer base.
While these are all plausible scenarios, Ford Philippines has yet to release an official statement on what it has planned in the coming months. We will just have to wait and see what the automaker has in store for us in the coming months.
