You might think the Hyundai Santa Fe is the brand's top-tier crossover, but the real crown belongs to the Hyundai Palisade. Often overshadowed by its smaller sibling, the Palisade is Hyundai's flagship SUV. For the 2025 model year, this premium SUV has received a significant refresh in its home market of South Korea.
One major update? The V6 engine option has been axed. Diesel powertrains are also gone.
Instead, the revamped Palisade mirrors the direction of the Santa Fe, moving exclusively to turbocharged four-cylinder engines and hybrid systems. This aligns with Hyundai’s push towards greater efficiency and electrification across its lineup.
The 2025 Palisade is now powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While its horsepower has dipped slightly from 291hp (previous 3.8-liter V6) to 278hp, the new engine offers a significant torque boost—from 355Nm to 422Nm. This extra torque is especially beneficial for a large SUV like the Palisade.
For those seeking more power and efficiency, the hybrid option pairs the same 2.5-liter turbo engine with an electric motor. Together, they deliver a combined output of 329hp, making it the most powerful Palisade yet. Hyundai claims the hybrid model can cover an impressive range of 1,000 kilometers on a full tank and charge.
Pre-orders for the second-generation Palisade are now open in South Korea. Pricing starts at 43,830,000 won for the 2WD 2.5-liter turbo variant, going up to 64,240,000 won for the AWD hybrid Calligraphy model. Converted to pesos, this roughly translates to P1,740,000 to P2,600,000, excluding local taxes.
Of course, these prices won’t hold if the new Palisade reaches Philippine shores. Considering import duties, taxes, and market positioning, we can expect significantly higher sticker prices—potentially close to double the Korean figures.
While we await confirmation as to whether or not the new Palisade will make its way onto our shores, you can browse the wide selection of Hyundai cars already available here in the local market.
