It’s a good day to be a Mazda fan. With the launch of the Mazda6 midsize sedan and wagon with all-new engine options, it is amazing to see that the Japanese brand is already geared up and ready to unveil its next-generation compact sedan and hatchback to the public soon. Even better, we now have a date: August 13, 2019.
At least in the case of Mazda Makati, you may now reserve any model in any color for the price of P20,000. The car itself will cost around the ballpark of P1,500,000, still less than a competing turbocharged compact from another brand. The price will start around P1,300,000 for the 1.5L. For other Mazda dealerships, you can get in touch with them to check if they are offering reservations as well, as the reservation fee may vary depending on which Mazda showroom you go to.
We also managed to get some details regarding the trim levels. To those who still remember the outgoing Mazda3’s spec sheet, buyers can expect around the same items from the last generation. You still get the option to go with a 1.5L or 2.0L SkyActiv-G engine. The Bose sound system is also retained. It looks like SkyActiv-X is not ready for prime time for now, perhaps next year.
Just like before, there will be two body styles on offer: sedan and hatchback. The dealer has also made a note about the newest color, Polymetal Gray, which will be available with the 2.0L hatchback variant.
With the launch event getting a date, we are anticipating the arrival of a major contender in the compact car segment. But then again, the launch date was given to us by a dealer and Mazda Philippines is yet to send us an official invite, so nothing is set in stone for now. One thing’s for sure, the all-new Mazda3 is set to arrive very soon.
